Islam is a universalist religion.

You have people, not all of whom, by the way, in the, in the Muslim communities, but many that are sympathetic to the idea of a caliphate, of Islamic, uh, you know, Islamist, uh, co- colonization.

Um, and so I, I think i- Jonathan Conricus, uh, is, is, is right to point this out.

And I think that is one of the key problems that many people have, uh, within, uh, you know, ideology that exists in the Muslim world, because they are e- expansionist in nature.

And this, by the way, is why people have so gravely, gravely, gravely misunderstood the Israeli-Arab conflict, including people like Piers Morgan.

So try to keep the Israeli element of this, uh, sort of out of this.

Can you give us your thoughts on that whole issue?

sure and and my good friend jonathan conricus has multiple times tried to explain to peers one to invite him personally to go into gaza with the idf but it's so weird that people will use that as and say well i don't want to go with the idf i want to i i want independent access What they're actually asking for is an embedded media program where any journalists of the world, no matter who they're from, can request and then get authorized to travel around with an IDF formation into Gaza.

That's just never happened in Israel.

I think it's unlikely for many reasons, the history, what happens when they actually have.

So the other kind of answer to this, where I say I have directly observed IDF operations, they're not showing me anything.

I'm just there observing their operations because my goal is, is as a war scholar to collect what's not just happening, but what are the lessons that I can use to then apply to all militaries of the world? How is Israel doing? trying to prevent civilian harm? How are they targeting the idea? So Piers is doing it as a media stick.

Jonathan Conricus has answered him multiple times and invited him.

So that's kind of the courage thing.

Mm-hmm.

I've interviewed multiple IDF, including got into a debate with Jonathan Conricus.

He won't talk to me again afterward, so take from that what you will.

Um, and I told them all, I said, "Look, I was very nuanced about Israel's position.

I was critical, very critical about what's happening in Gaza, more nuanced on Lebanon, critical of the strikes on Syria, but now I'm a lot more worried about the, the, the ambitions of the Israelis." The m- the minority that wants to expand the Israeli territory, and I've spoken to people from that minority as well that support Ben-Gvir, um, are starting to have more and more influence.
