Jon Abrahams

They say he did Bottoms because of his sister and stuff like that.

And, um, we, uh, had John Abrahams yesterday.

He was talking yesterday.

He got to do his first horror movie, and it just so happened to be LGBTQ as well, and he was thrilled.

Today's episode is another one of our live panels from this year's Tidewater Horror Convention.

And this time around, I'm chatting with Jon Abrahams from the films Scary Movie, House of Wax, Outside Providence, and a bunch more.

Now, before we dive into that, just remind everybody that there is gonna be a little bit of poor audio on this, considering that it was filmed live at the Tidewater Horror Convention.

Uh, next year I'm gonna try to do a little bit better about getting, you know, some better audio quality.

Don't forget that if you're in the Virginia Beach area, we do have Horror Movie Trivia Night coming up at Keegan's Irish Pub in Virginia Beach on Thursday, October 29th.

We'll also have a costume contest starting at 8:00 PM, so just come on out if you're in the area.

With all that being said, let's get into this conversation with Jon Abrahams.

Oh, what's up? [laughs]

Uh, and so releasing June 5th, 2026, the 17th as of now, asterisk, uh, highest grossing film of this year.

Uh, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Keenan Thompson, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Kim Wayans, Sherri Oteri, Chris Elliot, Damon Wayans Jr., Heidi Gardner, Oliv- Olivia Ross Keegan, um, Jon Abrahams, kind of a cameo.

There's some other people, don't really have any links, in Scary Movie.

[laughs] We're here to drink.

It's directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans.

And it stars Anna Faris, John Abrahams, Marlon Wayans, Carmen Electra, Dave Sheridan, Frank Moore, Giacomo Bassato, Rick DeKomen, Karen Kruper, Regina Hall, Shannon Elizabeth, and Sherry Oteri.

It's about... okay a year after disposing of the body of a man they accidentally killed a group of dumb teenagers are stalked by a bumbling serial killer i mean it works but whatever i yeah um i don't i think we'll just alternate who goes first because none of these are our picks

yeah

Let's run through the cast of this movie.

We have Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell, John Abrahams as Bobby Prins, Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore, Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks, Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks, Sean Wayans as Ray Wilkins, Shannon Elizabeth as Buffy Gilmore, Lachlan Munro as Greg Philippe, Sherry O'Terry as Gail Hailstorm and Carmen Electra as Drew Decker.

It also features a cameo by James Van Der Beek as Dawson Leary.

RIP James Van Der Beek, he passed away earlier this year.

Shannon Elizabeth, who was best known for her role as exchange student Nadia in American Pie, which had come out in the US just before filming on Scary Movie started, copied Jennifer Love Hewitt's performance in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Regina Hall was tasked with studying Jada Pinkett Smith's scenes in Scream 2, especially the scene where she dies in front of a cinema screen.

John Abrahams copied Skeet Ulrich's incentive to get laid in Scream.

And the writers continually tweaked the script during filming as Keenan Ivory Wayans encouraged improvisation, which most of the cast loved, except for Anna Faris, who was terrified to improv.
