Now let's move to Europe, where NATO officials spent the week trying to strike a careful balance between vigilance and calm.

Speaking to the Associated Press at a security conference in Tallinn, Estonia, NATO's Deputy Supreme Allied Commander, Air Chief Marshal Sir John Stringer, said Russian President Vladimir Putin is becoming increasingly cavalier, dangerous and risk-accepting as his war in Ukraine drags on, and warned that Moscow could escalate drone-related activity aimed at dividing Western allies.

Poland's Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, said Russia might deliberately strike NATO countries with drones or missiles while claiming the attacks were accidental.

And France's President, Emmanuel Macron, asked his government to prepare plans to protect critical infrastructure from drone and cyber attacks.
