... love action movies, right? And I mean, what more can you get with Mad- with Mad Max: Fury Road? Because, this is gonna sound bad when I say this, but everyone loves John Wick movies, right? It's pretty much everyone's like, "Those are the action movies," right? I would say Fury Road is in that same conversation, and I could even say Furiosa, because it's nothing like we've ever seen before, right? I mean, it, I mean, Fury Road is just one gigantic ride that you're just like, "I hope it never ends.

I hope I don't die either, but I hope, [chuckles] I hope it never ends."

Yeah, exactly, and, and, you know, and I, and I love how different they are from one another, where Fury Road is effectively just one massive chase across a couple of days, and it's just so relentless.

I, I'm on a John Woo high right now, and even I, I love you John, but I, I'm still sticking with Fury Road here.

The next two are gonna be funny 'cause I can't imagine they're gonna beat it, but we're gonna see how this goes.

John Wick, the first one.

You know, if it was John Wick: Chapter 4, it gets pretty close 'cause I, I, I love that fourth movie because they introduce so many new, um, just amazing action old-timers, and it's just such a celebration of action and stunts.

Chad Stahelski is attached to direct.

For listeners who don't follow directors closely, Chad Stahelski is the architect of the John Wick franchise.

He transitioned from being a legendary stunt double to fundamentally redefining how action cinema is shot and choreographed in the 21st century.

Bringing in Stahelski feels like Paramount is calling in the absolute elite tier one special forces of action choreography to salvage the property.

But Stahelski is trapped between two completely opposed audiences.

How does he construct a film that satisfies the Tom Clancy diehards who demand hyperrealistic, grounded military tactics-

While simultaneously delivering the spectacular hyper-stylized gun fu that the Amazon Prime audience expects from the director of John Wick?

It feels like mixing oil and water.

You think of kind of the more elevated side of action these days with the Chad Skowalski, David Leitch side of things, right? Post John Wick and all that.

This movie is almost leaning more horror, right? So like you're not seeing anything you haven't really seen before.

And the super soldiers frankly play with their food the entire time until they eventually get felled.

He did Ballerina.

The John Wick one.

I'll give it an A. I think it was just about as good as a film like that can be.

I don't like this violence where nobody's life matters.

I don't like these action films where a million people get killed, so you can't care about anything.

Nobody's gonna get killed.

I think too many action films have gone down that road, and John Wick is one of them.

I like watching Keanu Reeves.

And we were saying it's like this makes me think that Keanu Reeves is actually a pretty good actor.

It's like if he can be convincing as John Wick and it's like this innocent, like super innocent, it's like he's got more than we're giving him credit for.
