John Wark

Oh, that's amazing.

I think John, I think John Wark was still playing for Ipswich-

Oh, goodness me

... at the age of about 41.

Um-

To give him his full title, do you mean star of Escape to Victory, John Wark?

Yes [laughs]

Who was in that film with the [laughs] master of the, of the European Cup winning Ipswich squad.

Mm

... you mentioned John Wark being the prime example-

Yeah

... of it, like, you know.

So, so, you know, just before I got into them, I think most Ipswich fans who are my sort of age would s- tell you someone like Matt Holland was your classic box-to-box midfielder, was a bit of everything.

Um, my dad goes on and on about John Wark and McGreal and Alan Brazil and, like, there's a whole group there that he, he, uh, Terry Butcher and, you know, all these guys.

I think for me, like, it's hard to say what is a Ipswich player, 'cause I would say we've changed so much.

Like, we used to be one of those teams that was quite frustrating to watch because you'd see there was the potential, but any exciting young players got snapped up quite quickly, and then it felt like we kind of were just a bit of a team that were just playing football to play football.

Yeah.

Um, and then there was George, then Johnny Wark, and now I've teamed up with Terry to, to put this one together.

And this has been a mammoth job, hasn't it?

It's been a big undertaking, but absolutely fantastic thing to work on.
