John Thomas

This week we're recording live from a Central American jungle discussing the 1987 sci-fi action horror film Predator.

This film was directed by John McTiernan and written by Jim Thomas and John Thomas.

Predator was an unlikely success with two first-time screenwriters and a second-time director at the helm, but this stealthily science fiction story trudged along against all odds.

With its dedicated cast of memorable characters, iconic creature design, impressive special effects, quotable one-liners, and action-packed sequences, Predator would overcome its initial mixed reception to spawn a franchise and become not only a celebrated cult classic, but an all-time favorite film and character for many horror fans.

And lastly, a TFCON panel with Peter Cullen.

Okay.

So the story of Predator begins with two brothers, Jim and John Thomas.

John had injured his back, and while he was laid up, Jim approached him with an idea of writing a script together.

Screen story and based on the Alien characters by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
