Getting them to see, like, how, how juiced, like, and how, like, whoa, this volleyball thing is a big deal.

Um, the CEO of USA Volleyball, his name's John Speraw.

He used to be a, he's a great Olympic coach and great coach at UCLA, great player.

Um, he, you know, him and I have, I don't think, I'm not gonna say we are super tight, but he's been kinda reaching out to me lately about certain things, 'cause obviously he understands where Nebraska volleyball sits in the volleyball re-

Okay, uh, my, my basketball coach in, in, when I, when I was younger definitely influenced the way that I coach in the beginning of my career-

Yeah

... without a doubt.

And as many of you know, I, you know, I coached him when he was in club, and, you know, he's, he's a great, great human being and always likes to give back.

And he comes on and speaks to our coaches, you know, a handful of times a year.

And right now, many of you are in the beginning of your seasons, and what a great time to talk about, you know, culture and identity and, you know, how to...

A- and mental toughness and systems.

And what a, you know, instead of me describing and talking about this, I, I figured it'd be great to hear from, you know, a professional athlete, both he plays on a really great professional team in Poland, as well as our national team.

And what he does is he explains to our coaches, you know, what does it, what does identity mean, and what are some of the things that the players on his, both his professional teams, um, you know, what do, what do they do as a team to figure out, you know, certain things with culture? And the truth is, you know, you could have the best players in the world, but if you don't, if your culture is not there, you're, you're gonna have a problem.

It's gonna be tough to win with a bad culture.

So he explains how they figure their culture out, you know, on the national team, as well as the, uh, as well as his team in Poland.

It's, you know, first time USA Volleyball has had a player chairman of the board, and I'm so excited to see what she's gonna be able to do.

I, I'm getting to see John Speraw's vision and what he wants to do with USA Volleyball.

And I, I think we're at such an amazing pivotal moment for USA Volleyball.
