And You kind of, back in the day when there were like house critics, which there barely are anymore, there's, you know, I mean, there's people at the Times, I like Manolo Dargis, you know, and I really like Richard Brody.

She mentions John Simon, who's a really, like, deeply learned guy who, like, knew everything.

And he started becoming, you know, maybe a weekly critic for New York Magazine, maybe.

And it was about all of her bad reviews and people like Olivier and Judi Dench and, you know, the great, the luminaries.

I only got one review from John Simon.

I was doing an improv show off-Broadway called The Proposition with people like James Curtin and Paul Kreppel and people like that.

Wow, that is a bleak outlook, Pauline Kael.

And also worth noting that John Simon described MASH as an amusingly absurdist army satire and I don't know if there's a better way to describe this movie than with that one sentence.

Basically, it was essentially a well-received black comedy about war that turned into one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time.

In fact, actually, no, it didn't just turn into one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time because then there was the spinoff That happened later during the run of MASH that was Trapper John MD.
