That was a huge song that I think, um, a lot of people knew even if they weren't really into Petra and I won't sing it, don't worry, but thankful hearts like a ballad.

Um, and so this was with John Schlitt, the new singer.

And, um, these, so these songs were so good.

I remember, um, they were nominated i remember my mom so back to this whole thing of like are they christian or not right there were when i went to a church called voice for christ i remember specifically being told like you're not allowed to listen to petra like literally that's how i heard about petra i had not heard about petra but i was told there's a band called petra they're supposed to christian band but no it's two and you want to know why one of the reasons was was because they were nominated for grammys I mean, that's how good they were.

It's super heavy, but also kind of like poppy and not poppy, but like the songs are a little more have more melodies in them and stuff but it's still really hard it's got all fired up hit you where you live and then they always had that one ballad they had first love which is a great great song um and again what made it so cool was these were songs that made you think yes they were all christian songs they were all i mean petra is a very overtly like on fire for jesus band they still are they've made 20 some albums they're still going to this day um they're a great band But the lyrics were creative.

And Bob Hart, who's the creative force behind the band, he's the songwriter.

So even though you had different vocalists, and John Schlitt's a phenomenal vocalist, yet Bob Hart, who was really the heart and soul of the band, wrote great songs.

And you had to think about what it meant.

Today, I have the privilege of taking a few minutes with Bob Hartman and John Schlitt, original members of the band Petra from back in the 1970s.

Guys, I have to tell you, one of the things that I've always been intrigued about and love about Petra over the years is that your songwriting is always pointing to the gospel.

Where many other, I'm going to say Christian bands, water down the gospel, you guys have never done that.

and know what he wants them to do.

If that's all that comes out of this movie for a young person, boy, that'll be a great reward.
