Mm-hmm.
Michael WolffPANELIST

So the court said this, um, that it could not be the Donald, um, uh, the Donald Trump and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Donald J. Trump, uh, and John, and, and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Michael WolffPANELIST
17:43
Um, and then they tried to do, um, that it would be, that it would say something like, um, "The Kennedy Center Renovated," and, and who, who knows what else, "by Donald J. Trump." And the court has ruled that they can't put that on the side of the building either.
Michael WolffPANELIST
18:04
I think that ruling was just yesterday or the day before, and that's probably what this meeting they had was meant to address.

What, what do you mean? Out of these, you're gonna pick someone? You think Hagers is dumber than Kash Patel, or Kash Patel dumber than RFK Jr.? This is, uh, um, uh, this is, that's a hard, that's a hard competition.
Joanna ColesHOST
45:41

DeucyHOST
7:56
is safe like what were what were some of the ones that came out recently that critical acclaim sold tons of copies and then you still hear about the labs
DonnieHOST
8:04
here's the one that really really irritated the hell out of me was they gutted id id software the most iconic legendary developer and i'd say They're up there with the Nintendos and some of the other developers we could probably make examples of, but they did so much for gaming when they started in the early 90s with John Carmack and John Romero and the whole team they did there, right? So they apparently gutted more than half the team there.
DonnieHOST
8:30
Their team now is apparently smaller than what they started Doom 2016 with.
DonnieHOST
8:35
And all three Doom games critically acclaimed, sold pretty well.
Joanna ColesHOST

There are too many names to read out.
MickHOST
54:18
It's pretty rare.
MickHOST
54:18
John Romero has it.
MickHOST
54:20
But most people remember things by seeing something, processing it, and encoding the story of what they saw.
MickHOST
54:26
And then if you try to recall the memory, you'll recall an image or a video, but that's your head reconstructing it from the things it knows rather than you remembering the actual thing.
Hugh DoughertyHOST
50:02
As I said, Joanna is back with Michael Wolff on the next episode of Inside Trump's Head.
Hugh DoughertyHOST

Luke Caspar PearsonGUEST
28:44
So we have thousands of screenshots, but possibly the most ugly screenshots you've ever seen because they're usually, you know, like tiled together to make an isometric drawing or something like that.
Luke Caspar PearsonGUEST
28:56
But I suppose the one exception to that was with the Doom chapter where we were lucky enough to interview John Romero because we'd already sort of referenced and John provides the forward for our book, which we're really happy about.
Luke Caspar PearsonGUEST
29:09
And so we had the chance to speak with him directly about some of the approaches that they took to designing the levels in Doom and whether they referenced any real world architecture.
Luke Caspar PearsonGUEST
29:19
He told us they bought one book about military bunkers and then sort of tried to recreate it.
David PetrangeloHOST
3:38
Both one and two were released, of course, on PC and available for everybody there.
David PetrangeloHOST
3:43
at the time but um this is post doom one and two but uh quake one and two also came out on the n64 and i believe both also came out of playstation 2 at playstation as well um anyways massive massive influential first-person shooter uh franchise for a lot of reasons which we'll get into i'm sure there's going to be some stuff that we missed along the way because just like with doom and what id software and john romero and those guys did at that time There's a lot of history here.
David PetrangeloHOST
4:12
A lot of people have talked about this and there's going to be a lot of things that we may gloss over.
David PetrangeloHOST
4:17
We may miss a little bit, but we're going to do our best to kind of cover as much as we can.

David PetrangeloHOST

and you know these games aren't aren't super long you don't have to get everything just just like other games in the genre at the time there's secrets you know so there's lots of secrets in each level that adds to the sort of like intricacies of things you don't have to get them all but it's cool because you get more armor you get like uh whatever stuff like that right but super nail gun yes yeah super super shotgun and um dual shotgun i think they call it um but it's yeah it it works until it doesn't i think that's the problem and two has the same problem with the level the levels are are really big um yeah and and uh just as difficult of a game i would say for the most part so it's it's hard it's a tough balance i see what they're going for but um but it does make it make it pretty difficult uh i will
Jiggy LookbackHOST
57:53
say the the visuals on two are better like yeah yeah i want to i
David PetrangeloHOST
57:58
definitely i would definitely want to talk a lot about too because i i uh i didn't get to finish it but i was that's the one i've played the most recently because i did i finished one like last week and played a lot more of two and stuff yeah um the other thing too is uh i found this kind of fun you're kind of talking about the love crafty and stuff how that's something that sells you on it uh i didn't know this at the time but John Carmack is obviously a huge, and John Romero are obviously huge names in the industry, especially in the 90s.
David PetrangeloHOST
58:27
Id Software, they've done a lot of big things like Doom and Quake.
Mike WilsonGUEST
34:38
And, uh, yeah, so it, it all, it all worked out for the best.
Mike WilsonGUEST
34:41
I ended up with a brief stop off [laughs] with, uh, at Ion Storm when John Romero left to start that.
Greg OffHOST
34:48
Yeah.
Mike WilsonGUEST
34:48
I went there for a year and, uh, that's a well-documented, uh-
Brogan ChattinHOST
25:53

Brogan ChattinHOST
25:56
