Luke 24 34 says that Christ appeared to Peter sometime in this period Peter was also in the room with the other Apostles when Christ appeared on the day of the resurrection Luke 24 33 to 36 Christ also appeared to Peter on the shore of Galilee and reaffirmed Peter's call in John chapter 20 so we have the eyewitness testimony of the Apostle Peter and Then number two, he was seen of the 12.

And this took place on more than one occasion.

There were 11 apostles who first witnessed Christ after the resurrection.

Now, obviously, Jesus Christ rose from the dead because James, before the resurrection, did not accept Christ, his half-brother, as Messiah.

But clearly the resurrection made all the difference because you come to Acts chapter 1 and you find Mary seated in the upper room with the early church and his brethren.

But you go back and read the gospel, I think it's John maybe chapter 7 or thereabouts, his brethren initially did not believe on him.

And growing up here in the North, uh whether you're on the north side of the border like me or not growing up in a place where it's cold and dark and kind of gloomy for a third to half of the year california can't southern california but can really have that mystique of being this uh sunny wonderland that almost feels like another world because it's the farthest corner of the continent and you got to go over several mountain ranges and like desert to get there and then when you finally crest those last mountains and drop into the basin and see la and the ocean and everything it's wow i finally made it uh it was that way for me when i finally made it there la has long been a fascination of mine from when I was as far back as I can remember as a little kid probably started with falling in love with the Doors music and finding out that they were from LA and like wow this is what it sounds like there and then the more I found out the more I was like yeah that's my place I want to move there that's my kind of climate everything about it so And I'm not alone in that.

If you think of California Dreamin' by the Mamas and the Papas, John Phillips wrote that when he was living in New York on a cold, wintry day longing for California.

Anyway, so yeah, California Girls has this beautiful, lush, inviting intro about very well produced with great uh use of the the ride symbol especially the bell the um and i think overall is a a step toward a step in the direction of the quote-unquote pocket symphony idea that they perfected a year later on good vibrations uh i think it's One of the best examples of Brian and Mike writing together, Mike talks in his book about how the lyrics came to him driving along the coast to the studio one day.

If Surfing USA was a reworking, to be generous, of a Chuck Berry song, this is Mike writing his own Chuck Berry song in terms of, taking that travelogue style of naming off these different places but making it his own.
