I think you, that play's often taught without calling attention to its bullshit.

And he's just an actor on the stage.

And the whole thing was he began at the Royal Court Theatre with John Osborne and blah, blah, blah.

And then Olivier knew him from there and asked him to join him at the National.

And Robert always insisted Olivier was the greatest actor in the world.

And I don't think he really liked probably initially those kitchen sink dramas.

I think they probably seemed pretty ghastly to him, but he knew he had to make that transition, and so he started doing, you know, the John Osborne play, The Entertainer.

And he did make the transition, so he was a great re-creator of himself.

Yeah, and his company at the Old Vic was full of the young, thrusting actors, and he enjoyed being part of that.
