C
36:54Chris JonesHOST
I mean, the cynics would say, and even not the cynics, John Mitchell, who- who's got experience of coaching in the States, said the other day, well, he, he questioned whether rugby will ever crack America because you've got such a crowded landscape.
C
37:07Chris JonesHOST
They have their seasons perfectly structured, so there's no overlap.
C
37:10Chris JonesHOST
Um, and people have their, their college football, their, um, their high school football, their NFL, their NHL, whatever it might be.

A
27:44Alfie ReynoldsHOST
It's basically an extension of four months, really, taking him from the end of the World Cup until the end of the following Six Nations.
A
27:50Alfie ReynoldsHOST
England did the same with John Mitchell ahead of the Women's World Cup last year.
A
27:54Alfie ReynoldsHOST
They essentially, gents, have said they don't want coaches looking for their next job during a World Cup year.
A
28:01Alfie ReynoldsHOST
As you would expect, Alex, with England, with Steve Borthwick, always a big reaction to this.
10 MINS LATER
A
37:35Alfie ReynoldsHOST
I think the wider points it gets to in terms of how the RFU operate and, and people losing patience with this Borthwick project is, is for me what it puts a bit of a spotlight on.
A
37:43Alex LowePANELIST
And we'll get onto the Red Roses probably next.
A
37:45Alex LowePANELIST
But Elgin, if, one of the things that Connor said in that pod was John Mitchell was, has been hired for two weeks over a four-year period really to deliver semi-final and final week.
A
37:55Alex LowePANELIST
But they're basing this Borthwick and the England management team model on the Red Roses model.
Are The Springboks UNSTOPPABLE? | Tony Johnson Breaks Down The Greatest Rivalry Series
N
30:29Nigel YaldenGUEST
And I was thinking about it, Tony, and I know you're a good historian.
N
30:32Nigel YaldenGUEST
The last time the All Blacks would have had three coaches in four years would have been Smith, Mitchell, Hansen.
N
30:39Nigel YaldenGUEST
But, uh, Smith, Mitchell, Henry, would it be? Trying to think back.
N
30:44Nigel YaldenGUEST
It's been a lot.
T
30:45Tony JohnsonHOST
Uh, in four years.
T

Six Nations In The USA: Good Idea?! Springboks Smash All Blacks To Win Series & Answering Your Borthwick Questions
B
39:50Ben YoungsHOST
They got challenged.
B
39:51Ben YoungsHOST
I'm sure John Mitchell challenged them at halftime to come out and deliver, and they absolutely did.
B
39:55Ben YoungsHOST
And to sort of win in that manner, it just shows that when they turn it on and when they are on song, they are still without doubt the best team in the world.
B
40:03Ben YoungsHOST
39 now consecutive game wins, which is incredible.
B
43:18Ben YoungsHOST
And we've also got another comment here, Colly.
B
43:20Ben YoungsHOST
Coaches out of contract after the World Cup or currently uncommitted post-World Cup.
B
43:25Ben YoungsHOST
We've got Scott Robertson, we've got Rónan O'Gara, Jamie Joseph, Dave Rennie, Franco Smith, Shaun Edwards, John Mitchell, Clark Law- Laidlaw.
B
43:33Ben YoungsHOST

S
5:21Scotty StevensonHOST
Now, I periodically correspond with your brother, John Mitchell, and I guess I've never had the chance to ask you, Ox, but all of his good coaching ideas come from you?
P
5:30Paul MitchellGUEST
Probably, and probably the... um yeah John and I um yeah we've we've had many battles uh you know we both both obviously kept them our provincial sides and um I remember one going down in Tamarindoo and obviously down in Mooracka on the weekend talking to Buck Anderson and uh and I said you know what were your team talks against King Country when we played and they said he said your brother always said get hold of that little fella Paul Mitchell and uh lock him up because he'll come back at us um So, yeah, and one story was Glen Walsham was the referee one time, and obviously John and I obviously went face-to-face, and we got told off by Glen, and I said to Glen, I said, it goes back many years in the back lawn, so I don't think you should get involved in this one.
P
6:26Paul MitchellGUEST
But anyway, but no, John and I...
P
6:32Paul MitchellGUEST
We're close, but we're sort of not close, because obviously the business and what he's done in his career would be fantastic.

Yellow cards, all sorts of things come into ga- into, into play in games, and um, and so you've gotta be ready to go.

M
11:32Marlie PackerHOST
The thing that we had a new coach come in, I reckon, four or five years ago now, John Mitchell, and He just, like, let us be our own authentic selves.

M
11:41Marlie PackerHOST
