And so the filmmakers were for a period of weeks surrounded by a real hospital and a real set of patients and of course had to then act out their fictionalized version of the narrative with that in mind.

And it's based on a screenplay by Jean-Pierre Mocky who plays the young man uh Francois isn't it who uh is incarcerated and the film had been set up by Mocky uh he who was an actor originally and who wanted to set up his own films as producer and director and we've talked about a previous Mocky film in one of these halls on film sessions We talked about it.

Yes, it's a 1970 film, Solo.

This was in 1959, so it was the period of the French New Wave, and you might assume that therefore this is a new way of film, given that it was made by a new director, or a director new to feature films, and an actor who is writing his first major screenplay.

It's not really a new wave film in that sense because the director, Franju, was then in his late 40s.

It's not connected with any of the better known films or figures of the new wave, although Franju is generally well regarded by the members of the new wave like Godard and Truffaut and so forth.

However, let's go on to talk about the film itself.

This was made in 1969, directed by Richard Attenborough, the first film that Attenborough directed, in fact.

I want to get into a recruiting roundup, just give you some names to know, some of the latest, some stuff that I'm hearing, but we'll get there in a little bit because we got a chance to talk to John Mills on Tuesday, and I thought it was really important to make sure we highlight some of the things that he said about just how unacceptable the offensive line play has been recently.

He said it starts with him.

He took a lot of accountability for that, so I want to make sure we dive into that as well, but there's been a lot of frustration recently, a lot of negativity, so I want to start on a positive note because I saw a chart that was put out by True Media that was... a chart of pressure rate allowed versus pressure rate forced, and Washington was in the top right of that graph, which means that they've been allowing a lot of pressure, which is why we'll get to the offensive line a little bit later on, but Washington's defense has been forcing a pressure on almost 40% of opposing dropbacks through the first two games of the year.

That's exactly what you want to see, what Russell Davis is able to give you, where our good buddy Nick Lemkow had the stat of, he has a pressure on pretty much one of every 10 reps that he takes at the University of Washington, where obviously he missed 20-25, but it's very exciting to see what kind of havoc wreaker he can be.

on this defense as well and again combining these experienced guys with what these young dudes can be and the athletes that they are and just listening to Ryan Walters and Jed Fish and his coaching staff talk about what kind of players they can be on this defense it's very very exciting to see and think about what this defense can be a month from now, six weeks from now, as these guys continue to get comfortable again, assuming they can all stay healthy, which has certainly been an issue along the offensive line.

But John Mills flat out said that the play of the offensive line is unacceptable.

And we'll get to that right after message.

I think that we do lose the intimacy, but it's so strange, isn't it, because it's got a lot of meta stuff in it.

And then, and then that's a little sort of titter.

... and he ends up out in the yard, and everyone's laughing at him.
