And, um, [smacks lips] um, and too his interviews.

Eric is such a great interview, you know, to be interviewed.

Albert Collins, who we just talked about, recruited him as a drummer and personally taught him his signature AC Hot guitar style.

Montoya later spent a decade with John Mayles' reformed Blues Breakers, establishing an acclaimed solo career while carrying forward the traditions of electric blues with passionate playing and soulful vocals.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was born on October 3, 1954, in Dallas, Texas.

He became one of the most influential blues guitarists in history.

Our tune today was recorded live in Japan in 2015.

For this week's Bullfrogs Roadhouse Long Song from it, what a night it must have been for John Mayall and the Blues Breakers when Memphis and Chicago Blues legend join the British blues icon John Mayall and his Blues Breakers on stage for one special night in June 1982 at New Jersey's Capitol Theatre.

Now this concert turned out to be a summit gathering of some of the greatest names in blues music.

This track is actually featuring Eric Clapton on guitar.

This is John Mayer and the Blues Breakers.

And the track called All Your Love.

And this is fantastic.

This one from 2017, it's called Make Way for the King, a tune called Falling Apart.

Before that, another notable performer in the blues rock genre, joined by the name of Walter Trout, been a professional musician since the late 60s, worked with Canned Heat in the 80s, also spent a few years in John Mayles' Blues Breakers.

But as a leader of his own band, he's released an astonishing 30 albums since the late 80s.

This one from 2019, it's called Survivor Blues, gave us a piece called Red Sun.

I went to UNM.

And the guitarists really loved, like, Blues Breakers and, you know, clapped in the whole thing.

And so we played a lot of that rhythm and blues type stuff and wrote a lot of that stuff.

And that was the same thing, man.

this was just my reaction ... to the point that Rob is rolling his eyes and some, blowing smoke rings, right? You know? [laughs] It's almost like Clapton on the cover- Oh, right ...

of that, uh, the, uh, the Mayall album.

Um, but yeah.

Yeah.

1984 or something.

Well, it's like a Bino moment.

That's what I was saying, like the cover of, um, you know, when, uh, Clapton on the cover of, uh, of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers.

That's how they knew he was leaving.

I shot the sheriff.

Eric Clapton's had so many bands between The Yardbirds and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers and Cream and Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos that people forget that he actually had some solo hits, too, and this was one of them, his only number one hit, I Shot the Sheriff, song number 1530 on Billboard's Top 3000 Songs of All Time.

Interestingly, despite this being his only number one, he has three other songs that are rated higher- Because they were on the charts for longer periods of time.

Tears in Heaven changed the world, and his biggest hit, Lay Down Sally.

Right, because I think that was the band that Clapton left because they were too poppy.

Because they did For Your Love, and he thought, oh, this is too poppy for me, so I'm going to join the Blues Breakers with John Mayall, and then he went into Cream after that.

But it is ironic, yeah, considering this is the same guy that was... you know, doing Tears in Heaven and Babyface collaborations, you know, 20 years after that.
