So from your position as someone who partners with institutions, what are colleges and universities getting wrong about AI right now?

John KatzmanGUEST
First is the fear that the students are using it improperly like again we have to have a much more positive approach to this thing this technology is not going away in the real world all of us use ai every day it's it's i was biking to work yesterday and just working with claude writing a whole complicated letter to somebody and it was just going back and forth you know we how do you want to phrase that and you know and by the end by the time i got to the office i had a letter pretty much ready to go I think that's a win.

John KatzmanGUEST
And I expect my employees to be using this stuff effectively to be more efficient and effective.

John KatzmanGUEST
The use of AI for education, for teaching and learning is complicated and we've got to be thoughtful about it.

because-I'm, I got a, a five-year-old and a 10-year-old, and my 10-year-old, you know, after she writes a paper or she does a presentation and she, she's always like, she wants feedback.

John KatzmanGUEST
She's like, "Well, uh, well..." And the idea of her having this personalized feedback instant, and I love the idea that it's instant feedback, and to be able to present that.

John KatzmanGUEST
And speaking of academic integrity, I mean, I'm sure somebody will find a way to cheat on that, but that's kinda hard to cheat on that when it's a one-on-one conversation you're having, uh, and try- and, and talking about something you just produced, something you just created, and to have that.

John KatzmanGUEST
So that whole process, whether it's K12 or higher ed and, you know, grad, whatever, or even professionals, I mean, it's just, it j- has so many opportunities, John.

John KatzmanGUEST
You really wanna just make it hard enough, right? People have always cheated, and there's always gonna be some way, but you wanna make it hard enough that you might as well just learn it, right? 'Cause ...

22:04Can you talk a little bit about what prompted you to go this route in the first place? To go with the route that meant assembling that A team and spending a little bit more on the A team, but hopefully finding what sounds like an, a pretty serious amount of value.

I'll say from my side, uh, when we were doing the selection and kind of working through everything, uh, my parents had built two houses prior.
J
22:30John KatzmanGUEST
Um, so I, I had had a little experience in the new build, you know, foray, if you wanna call it that, and going into that, uh, portion.
J
22:39John KatzmanGUEST
And we leaned heavily on my parents and my father especially, uh, through this build process.
J
22:45John KatzmanGUEST
And hey, you know, kinda wanna let you know what's going on here, when we- especially when we were looking for that.
J
22:51John KatzmanGUEST
Um, and one of the biggest things that, uh, was important and really, really, really valuable, and I can't stress it enough for others who are looking to do this process, is that, um, your architect especially, like, if you are just planning on buying some plans or having somebody whip something up and then never see that architect again and then going to a builder and saying, "Here's my thing.
