John Hobbes

But after Reese's death, Hobbs continues to get phone calls at 2 a.m., just like Reese used to do.

And then Hobbs, along with his partner Jonesy, played by John Goodman, their colleague Lou, played by James Gandolfini, and their boss, Lieutenant Stanton, played by Donald Sutherland, all begin investigating a new series of murders, where the killings eerily match Reese's old M.O., We've already seen that the spirit that inhabited Reese has jumped into the body of different people, but Hobbes doesn't know that yet, so the spirit leaves him clues to help him figure it out.

One clue points Hobbes to look into a disgraced former detective named Robert Milano.

Milano died by suicide 30 years back, and his daughter Greta, played by M. Beth Davids, reluctantly tells Hobbes the real story.

Her father was a celebrated cop who arrested a serial killer, just like Hobbes did.

And then a series of copycat murders began, just like now with Hobbes.

Eventually, Detective Milano was accused of the crimes, and despite being innocent, it appears that he knew he couldn't beat the accusations and took his own life.

Right off the bat, start with a voiceover, not my favorite plot device in film to explain what's going on, but this movie has a fun twist on it, let's say, without giving away too much.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

The only thing I had written down for this one was I did like there was one outfit where Hobbes, who's Denzel's character, he was like walking around the street and he had on a really cool brown jacket, but it was cropped.

like it wasn't long it was like kind of cropped and he had like his pants were kind of like wide leg but like not really but like if you looked at the outfit it was more than just like because usually when you see cops on like law and order or whatever they're wearing like off the rack stuff like nothing has like any real like like uh silhouette to it it's very kind of like straight up and down it's like you can tell it's like cheap like they're not making a ton of money you know So, but you could tell with this one, like if you looked closer, like, oh, this outfit he has on is actually not just brown pants and a brown jacket.

I liked that.

So I was like, oh, my God, this is so funny that, like, that meme, it's very, like, heavy on Twitter and stuff.

So, yeah, that one's really good.

And then also I wrote, side note, out of all of this, Hobbes' apartment was incredible.

Yeah, very.
