So given that in the wake of the midterm elections, we do want to have one more examination of what the voters told us, not just what party they voted for or candidate they voted for, but what issues mattered most to them and what can we do about it? So to that end, let's bring in our friend John Hishta of AARP to specifically talk about that voting block that we focused on quite a bit here.

And it's important to know and have that information and share it with people in your life if they don't know, because turnout is going to be a huge factor in these elections.
Larry O'ConnorHOST
1:21
To that end, let's bring in our friend John Hishta from AARP.
Larry O'ConnorHOST
1:25
I want to talk about that part of it, the turnout and how we can get people motivated to get out and make sure that they get the resources.
Larry O'ConnorHOST

And they want to make sure that politicians and people in office make sure that Medicare is strong, make sure that it's there so that they can go to the doctors, they can go get their prescription drugs.
John HishtaGUEST
10:04
and that they have access to the care they need and so from their perspective if candidates talk about medicare it's about how do you continue to make it strong for those who are on it
Larry O'ConnorHOST
10:14
in fact i think it would be more accurate uh for a politician to say it's medicaid for all because medicaid is very different than medicare and what they're proposing really looks more like medicaid than medicare it appears but There's another thing that I found in this poll here that I got a sneak peek of, John Hishta, in Maine, and that has to do with the split ticket.
Larry O'ConnorHOST
10:34
We hear about this phenomenon a lot for these midterms, that voters could very well be voting one way for the governor's race and another way for the senator's race, and Maine's the perfect example of that.
