John G. Lake

The Minor Prophets brought up this guy, John G.

Lake.

Have you all ever heard of this man? Um, [laughs] okay.

All right.

All right.

So John G.

Lake.

I don't know if you all know, um, who he is.

And it's a good fight of faith.

And I'm thinking of the words of prophecy, and I'm also thinking of 1 Corinthians 6.12. John Lake said this back at the turn of the century.

He said, God's call to the Christian churches today is to come forth from their hiding place.

Just as Elijah came forth and meet the kings, the enemies of the Lord, and declare the ground on which you must meet the enemies of God and meet them in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

The consciousness that I am one with Christ.

That was what made men like John Lake.

That their hands could take all kinds of germs and viruses.

And yet it did not affect them.

And I'm looking at this gentleman and said, wow, this must be a very fine young man, man of God.

then i see two people across and then i said okay so what can i pray for you for true story then so he looks at me and says well i am me now joshua selman they said i am john the baptist and that that gentleman standing is jesus true story if i'm joking i will tell you i'm joking and that they came to replicate what happened in scripture i thought they were joking you know just i laughed it over but i found out they were serious The other guy that stood there was, I don't know whether it was John or something.

I mean it literally.

A replica of these disciples.

And that young man stood boldly.

He was not, I mean he just came and said, look, do what John did to Jesus and let me live.

And then I looked at them immediately.

I discerned that something had gone wrong.

And it just don't work.

There was one man that didn't, his name was John Lake, John G Lake.

He was there.

He was there.

Because there were so many well people.

So this is one of John G. Lake's stories that I love and that I've anchored my faith to.

And so this happened around somewhere between, in South Africa, the bubonic plague broke out.

And it was a very severe, back somewhere between 1901 and 1902.

Lake, and he buried, it says, John G.

Lake, four of his assistants died while they were in the midst of this city from this fever.

But guess what happened with John G. Lake? Nothing.

He never got it.

D. O.K. is lost.

When Peter started speaking, when John started speaking, Everybody said, these are not gifted men.

These are not trained men.
