John Fries

His cabinet scheming against him, Hamilton publishing a pamphlet to destroy him, the presidency itself, in 1800. he says he wants nothing more on his gravestone than that he took the responsibility of peace with france and when the window tax rebellion breaks out in the dutch counties of pennsylvania in seventeen ninety nine assessors counting window panes to fund the war fever farm women driving them off with kettles of hot water, the auctioneer John Fries leading 400 armed neighbors to Bethlehem to free the arrested, where not one shot is fired and not one man is harmed, and the courts nevertheless convict Fries of treason and sentence him to hang.

Adams pardons him.

His entire cabinet advises the hanging.
