They were absolutely extraordinary.

Many of them were from these communities and certainly Almost all of them were from Rajasthan, supported by a really fabulous team here in the U.S., but also an extraordinary partner in the John Deere Foundation that was really willing to work with us year after year to ensure that what was being invested in was the most relevant.

And importantly, was what the communities wanted, not what we wanted, not what John Deere wanted, but what we heard and saw from the farmers, from the children in schools, from the parents and everything else.

So very much focused on what the community wants and needs.

It's awesome.

Rejuvenate Housing Executive Director Amy Porter and John Deere Foundation President Taryn Edgen were on hand Tuesday to show off the newly renovated home on 13th Street and announced the John Deere Foundation is investing $1 million over the next three years to, as Porter put it, help create more affordable home ownership opportunities in the Quad Cities.

The funding will support Rejuvenate Housing's work to renovate 15 to 21 vacant and distressed homes in Davenport and make them available to low- and moderate-income families.

The effort is expected to generate more than $12 million in economic activity while helping families put down roots in local neighborhoods, Edgins said.

As a release from the John Deere Foundation explained, it is through the City of Davenport's Extreme Dream program that eligible buyers can receive $100,000 in assistance through a forgivable mortgage.

The John Deere Foundation, Quad Cities Housing Council, and other partners helped fund the remainder of each renovation, creating a model that stretches community resources and increases impact, the release said.
