Now, there was a period of time, like prior to The Hurt Locker, where she didn't necessarily get the credit I believe she deserved.

But if you just look at some of her filmography, okay, The Loveless, followed by Near Dark, Blue Steel, Point Break... now 1995 she released strange days which almost killed her career for a period of time but if you go back and watch strange days which i would suggest everybody do that is a great film that is highly underrated also and then of course with the hurt locker in 2008 she'd become the first woman to win a best director oscar so she has some pedigree that often gets overlooked And when you enter a film like Point Break, which has got so much machismo, there's literally only one proper female character in this film, Tyler, played by Laurie Petty.
