Hannah Thompson pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and concealing a felony and received three years of probation.

Yeah, I was at my daughter's swim lesson, and I got a, a phone call from a coworker of mine, which was just odd to get a, a phone call after hours, and he said, "You're never gonna believe it.

They found John Blauvelt," and I said, "You gotta be kidding me." Um, it was, it was not something I was expecting to get a phone call about.

But then as soon as we got that phone call, I mean, it was boots on the ground.

Everyone was ready to go.

I mean, obviously you've got a job to do, but you've also gotta observe, so there's gotta be body language and all of that there.

Tell us, and take us inside that courtroom.

Yeah, you know, it was really interesting, because when John Blauvelt was found and located, I wasn't in the courtroom during his first bond hearing.

Someone else from the office had handled that.

Police say her family had reported her missing just hours earlier, Tuesday afternoon.

I picked up the phone and I, I didn't wanna hear what he said, so I handed it to my husband.

And I remember watching my husband's face.

That's what told me there's nothing else to do.

Cops are asking themselves, what are the chances that these two guys who found Katie's body found it in the first place that they looked?

They do start with the people closest to her.

Even though Katie may look young, the 22-year-old has already been married.

But then investigators find out that she's recently separated from her husband, and they decide they need to talk to him.

It was disgusting this house and her body was found in the basement and she'd been stabbed in the neck and the blade of the knife was still in her neck.

Now she had recently separated from her husband who was a US Army recruiter, Captain John Blauvelt.

So obviously he's on the radar as well.

Now, police are watching him so carefully, listen to this.

So my understanding is that initially police had some questions about the friends.

There were two friends who found Katie's body.

At what point did they decide we don't really need to look closer at them and maybe shift over to looking at her estranged husband?

Excellent point, yes, because all her friends and her family, they were so freaked out like where is Katie? The last time she was seen was leaving work, her phone is pinging in another state, this doesn't make sense.
