The Victims Minister, Alex Davis-Jones, said a range of measures were being examined, including the release of some so-called IPP prisoners who'd been given indefinite sentences.

But she conceded that the changes wouldn't leave much leeway in the system.

We will have capacity within the system with those numbers, but it will be run very tight, which is why the Prime Minister has tasked us with looking at what more we can do regarding IPP prisoners by deporting foreign national offenders who are within the criminal justice system quicker.
