Imogen SimmonsSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
39:00
Sometimes you learn lessons the hard way.
Kelly O'MearaHOST
39:02
I think it's interesting that she says everyone's only been positive um obviously I obviously we just had a lot of news about doping bans with Joe Skipper and Thomas Rodriguez and I think how people it's always fascinating to me how people respond to different people differently and obviously the facts are different and I don't I'm not in their heads I don't know what happened in her case like what had come out was that it was contamination from her boyfriend like that is what was ruled like I don't have an opinion I don't know but that is what was ruled right um And so, yeah, she's just said like a lot of people have been really understanding of that, which is, I don't know.
Kelly O'MearaHOST
39:33
I just find it interesting how people respond to the various doping cases, Tim.
Tim HemingHOST
39:39
The interesting thing I took from the interview she gave there was how much it affected her personally, whether the rights and the wrongs of the doping charge, but actually just how much it does.
Dylan NaylorHOST
86:03
Do you know what I mean? yeah it gets
DanHOST
86:06
messy it does right my pick of the week bit of a doping scandal so Joe Skipper popular popular British triathlete who announced his retirement I think a month or two ago it's been revealed this week that he's been popped for, well, he's not being found.
DanHOST
86:26
He's not returned a positive doping test, but he's been popped for, um, for three whereabouts failures.
DanHOST
86:32
So he's been banned for 18 months from the sport.
Gareth DaviesHOST
56:01
Uh, and it's interesting, there was a, an, a, a, a doping case this week.
Gareth DaviesHOST
56:06
Uh, did you see this British triathlon, um, star, Joe Skipper?
Ross TuckerHOST
56:09
Mm-hmm.
Gareth DaviesHOST
56:10
Uh, he's been given an 18-month period of, uh, of suspension for an ADRV, um, because of three whereabouts failures within a 12-month period.
Jack KellyHOST
5:51
So let's quickly touch on the doping news.
Jack KellyHOST
5:54
So Joe Skipper obviously gets an 18-month suspension for three whereabouts failures.
Jack KellyHOST
5:59
Now, I mean, I don't know how much we can talk about this, Vicky, but whereabouts failures have been a big thing in the triathlon bubble this year.
Jack KellyHOST
6:08
So when Joe Skipper... got his whereabouts failure.
Jack KellyHOST
6:11
I rang you on the phone, and I was like, oh, I've heard that someone might have got a whereabouts failure.
Jack KellyHOST
6:16
And you were like, oh, is it this person? And it wasn't this person.

14 MINS LATER

Jack KellyHOST
20:40
And then Imogen Simmons was a co-host of the Breadwinners, which was an all-female podcast that we did.
Jack KellyHOST
20:47
And then she tested positive.
Bevan McKinnonHOST
3:29
A little bit early.
Bevan McKinnonHOST
3:29
He did actually say on a post I saw today, Joe Skipper, I'm sure anyone who follows triathlon has seen that Joe's been banned for out of, missing three out of competition tests, um, on the whereabouts.
Bevan McKinnonHOST
3:40
Uh, but I don't think many people have got sympathy for Joe.
Bevan McKinnonHOST
3:43
Um, he's gonna have to wear this one on the chin because, you know, as ardent an anti-doper as I know Joe is, the other side of that conversation is be as clean as possible and make sure you get all your tests done.

10 MINS LATER

Bevan McKinnonHOST
13:29
I mean, I, I, honestly, I think we've said this before, I could see this in the Olympics, um, more than, more than any other race.
Bevan McKinnonHOST
13:36
Um, so yeah, it was just nice to see it back.
Bevan McKinnonHOST
13:40
Um, now the other big news, and we said at the beginning of the program, uh, obviously Joe Skipper.
Bevan McKinnonHOST
13:47
Uh, Tex, you know Joe.
HooksieHOST
52:43
Hey, I tell you who's not going to win the men's race.
HooksieHOST
52:47
You ready? Joe Skipper.
HooksieHOST
52:55
Come on, man.
HooksieHOST
52:56
You've got to explain this one to me, Rob.
HooksieHOST
52:59
here.
HooksieHOST
53:01
You explained to me the madness behind the fact that Hayler can drop a shoe in transition, and you explained that to me.
HooksieHOST
53:08
Now, so let me lay the picture for anyone that was under a rock and doesn't know the Joe Skipper story.
HooksieHOST
53:15
We're looking for the best fucking excuse you've ever heard in the history of the sport.
Mark MatthewsHOST
8:51
Right, anyway, what's next?
Kyle GlassHOST
8:53
Uh, the big news that happened this week, I mean, Joe Skipper, uh, we found out later on this week that Joe Skipper was handed a, uh, suspension for having three missed tests.
Kyle GlassHOST
9:04
I mean, you guys want to hit on that a little bit before we get into more of the nitty gritty details of 70.3 World Champs?
Pat LemieuxHOST
9:10
Yeah, do you mind if I probably give just a little bit more detail and context to what it takes to miss a test? I think that's where there's some big confusion that's covered, right? So if you're an athlete that's been deemed where you're put into a whereabouts program, presumably Joe was in the whereabouts program through Ironman, you have to provide a one-hour window where you are available – and realistically at home to be tested, right? So from 6 a.m.
Mark MatthewsHOST
11:45
Well, it's either stupidity or malice, right? So malice would be you're deliberately missing tests because you know you're going to piss hot, you're going to piss red or whatever you want to call it, and you know you'll get caught, so you have to miss the test or you're going to test positive.
Mark MatthewsHOST
11:57
But it can also just be stupidity and there are plenty of people that have fallen foul of that.
Mark MatthewsHOST
12:02
I, having known him a very long time, would feel pretty confident to put Joe Skipper in the stupidity category because he's the most disorganized bloke I've ever met.
Mark MatthewsHOST
12:13
This is a guy that's turned up at an airport three times without his passport.
Andrew Horsfall-TurnerHOST
2:27
Guys, we're actually joined by a fourth member today, but he's actually not going to join us together.
Andrew Horsfall-TurnerHOST
2:36
So we were actually lucky enough to grab Joe Skipper, but Joe is now a retired pro, but he is so busy still that to get five minutes with him is pretty difficult these days.
Andrew Horsfall-TurnerHOST
2:49
But we managed to grab him last night.
Andrew Horsfall-TurnerHOST
2:51
I chatted to him for... you know, 10, 15 minutes.
Josh LewisHOST
3:16
But anyway, I'm going to drop that recording in now.
Andrew Horsfall-TurnerHOST
3:21
Perfect.
Andrew Horsfall-TurnerHOST
3:21
So yeah, I'm joined here with Joe Skipper, newly retired professional triathlete, soon to be pro high rockster.
Andrew Horsfall-TurnerHOST
3:30
Isn't that right, Joe? Or are you doing a bit now, aren't you?
Talbot CoxHOST
47:15
Josh Spencer said, T100 desperately needs a spark.
Talbot CoxHOST
47:19
And by spark, I mean Joe Skipper joining the commentary team.
Mark MatthewsHOST
47:25
I think that's like high reward, high risk.
Mark MatthewsHOST
47:28
I think Joe Skipper could get your organization canceled quicker than I could.
Mark MatthewsHOST
47:34
He's loose, that boy.
Mark MatthewsHOST
47:36
He's hilarious.
Jake PyeHOST
44:36
But otherwise, you got anything else to
Joe SkipperHOST
44:39
say, Joe? I do have a funny topic for next week as well that I think would be funny to do, which is an athlete marketplace.
Joe SkipperHOST
44:47
So you have to write a listing for a professional athlete.
Jake PyeHOST
44:51
What, like you're selling them on marketplace?
