Joe Roddy

With Young potentially departing the green machine at the end of 2027, the Raiders will consider their options on the market.

They could look to replace Like for Like by signing for another second rower, But with Maddy Nicholson, Noah Martin, Simi Sasagi, Zach Hosking and Joe Roddy on their books, it's a position Canberra already has plenty of depth in.

So they might bolster another position instead.

Prop is an obvious one, following the departures of Josh Papali'i, retired, and Corey Horsburgh and Morgan Smithers going to Perth Bears.

You've got Mariota, Tarpon and Hosking as the starting middles.

And then your bench is like Noah Martin, Joe Roddy and Lipoi Hopoi.

That's the other one.

It's even Morgan Smithies.

A little bit risky.

Adam Mariota and Joe Roddy.

So there is going to be super coach value at the Raiders.

They have lost Josh Papali'i, Corey Horsbrough and Morgan Smithies.

So yeah, he's not cheap.

He's mid-range for sure.

So he'd prefer Joe Roddy to get a bit more ball.

But yeah, I don't mind either of them, especially with everything you mentioned and all that space opening up.

But then there were players that got their opportunities in twenty twenty-seven.

Emerging forward Joe Roddy, he featured heavily in the nineteen-man squad in twenty twenty-six.

He played seven games.

He earned a contract extension until the end of twenty thirty.
