aggregate victory so congratulations to him and Ashton Sizer the academy centre back started for Wales under 19s but they lost 2-0 to Norway before drawing 0-0 with Northern Ireland in Marbella there you go a little round up of how Pompey's reps have been getting on during this international break Before we find out a little bit more about Southampton Sunday's opponents of course St Mary's David's something Pompey have been trying to fill for a couple of months now following the departure of Zesh Raymond first team coach that has now reached its conclusion albeit Zesh has been gone for quite a while now the actual stage and application for that role hasn't been open for too long.

It's now been filled by former Blues midfielder Joe Morrell, who's got his coaching licences.
Jake SmithHOST
13:46
He's been coaching with Bristol City in various different roles and he finds himself back at Fratton Park.
Jake SmithHOST
13:51
In your opinion, is it a good idea to have a familiar face back or, as some people are saying on social media, is it a lack of ambition because he's just maybe a cheap option? I don't know.
Jake SmithHOST
14:40
Yeah, absolutely so.
Jake SmithHOST

And I guess, Frankie, to have some real, I say hotheads, but they're passionate footballers and certainly players, as David's alluded to there, who were integral in Pompey's midfield at certain points of their careers, albeit not meeting personally.
Jake SmithHOST

But to have Joe Morrell and Michael Doyle so passionately involved in the game and Portsmouth Football Club on the bench in the dugout for Pompey on Sunday.
Jake SmithHOST
15:04
For Joe, it's a baptism of fire, his first game, of course, within that role.
BenHOST
41:50
Um, I did mention that we'd have a little bit of news about a, a couple of former Imps, um, one in particular.
BenHOST
41:56
Uh, Joe Morrell has joined Portsmouth's coaching staff, Chris.
Chris LammingHOST
42:00
Oh, I completely missed that.
Chris LammingHOST
42:02
Thank you.
Chris LammingHOST

That's really good 'cause I know obviously he had to retire early, didn't he? Um, due to injury, and, um, was looking at going into coaching so that's, yeah, that's really good to, good to see that he's, uh, you know, he's kinda got himself back into the game on a, uh, official capacity.
BenHOST
42:21
Yeah, absolutely.
BenHOST
42:22
And I'm delighted for him, and I hope he succeeds there 'cause he, uh, everybody loved Joe Morrell.
BenHOST
42:27
One of those, uh, o- one of those, you know, he's, he's a shit house but he's our shit house even-

couple of nice little stories floating around one is that rich hughes is saying how hard it is to replace marlon pack i assume that he he recognizes that marlon pack clearly has a whole season at least ahead of him in the blue shirt so there's no urgency about replacing marlon pack but everybody ends up being replaced so it's sensible that he makes sure that marlon pack understands the esteem that he's held in by pompey's management that he's pretty much irreplaceable and i i on recent showings i'm sure you agree we haven't got anybody else on our books like him and we don't see many players week in week out who can hold a candle to him so that's a good little story Good all round for the club.

What do you make of Joe Morrell being appointed the successor to Resh, who's gone to one of the Arab countries, hasn't he? For a presumably lucrative and career-enhancing move to solidify his position as a coach.
Mick RobertsonHOST

Joe spent the year looking after, was it Bristol City's under-21s, under-23s? Obviously doing a good job.
Mick RobertsonHOST

According to BBC Solent, he was one of four people or were there four others who were down to the final grouping for the job.

They've been very...
Mick RobertsonHOST
7:45
They... have made big mistakes, nowhere near on the scale of Manchester City, but in the same ballpark morally.

Back to Joe Morrell.
Mick RobertsonHOST

Anyway.
