And he just so happens to be a catcher.

Like, I'm thinking about Joe Mauer, who-

Our Just Baseball team literally put this out an hour ago.

The, the last catcher to hit .300 among qualified hitters was Buster Posey in 2017.

So like, they're gonna be lower on the list simply because there's just no win now m- moments for them this season that really crack the list, and we'll talk about some of those in a second.

But for the Minnesota Twins, uh, they say following the 2013 season, Joe Mauer's final full year as a catcher before shifting to first base, the Twins have relied on a cavalcade of replacements from Kurt Suzuki, Gary Sanchez, Ryan Jeffers, to be their backstop.

Now, I think that undersells what Ryan Jeffers has done because he has been a consistent catcher for the Twins for five years.

But their whole point is like you haven't had this like full on franchise cornerstone piece.

Jeffers has been a nice piece, but he hasn't, you know, again, they, in terms of Joe Mauer, hasn't been that obviously.

Um, uh, 'cause I don't agree when they say none of them have particularly excelled, and none offer the franchise longevity like Mauer did.

I think Jeffers is the closest thing, but again, I get what they're saying, like decade plus kind of thing.

Think about the early 2000s Twins.

Any given year, Johan Santana, or you had, uh, Francisco Liriano coming in, Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, you know, MVP caliber players.

Yeah.

You know, Torii Hunter, like...

It doesn't affect my ego at all that you barely, probably don't remember.

You're more of a Joe Mauer fan.

I mean, just one of those, you know, Joe Mauer, Chris Winky guys that had the option to play both.

And then he, he went and jumped out for the baseball thing.

But yeah, I don't know, when you think about what that team is going to be, I don't know, how do you assess right now what SMU is? Obviously better than New Mexico State, but what you saw defensively from Florida State against New Mexico State, hearing what Tony White has had to say about the improvements they're probably likely to make, and then just factoring in what you think SMU is going to look like in their first game on the road, hostile environment, where are you at right now in terms of thinking how it could play out, SMU's offense versus Florida State's defense?

Yeah.
