Looking at the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame induction list, Jerry Lawler went in in the inaugural class in 1996, and I don't think anyone batted an eye at that.

He is one of, if not the most enduring long-term territory stars of all time.

Lance Russell was in that initial class, and later Jimmy Hart and Jerry Jarrett were voted in.

To a lot of people, I think those four inductees covered that real Memphis glory period, starting in the mid-'70s and going up to the mid-'80s at some point.

But Bill Dundee was a huge star for the territory, going back to when he debuted in a tag team with George Barnes.

He's tied to Lawler as a partner and rival, as much as any two wrestlers I could think of.
