My dad had bought the guitar for my mother.

to learn, because she'd said she'd wanted to learn, and there was somebody in the garage where we sort of lived who'd been passing through and sold him the guitar and gave my mother a lesson, and I saw the lesson book, the notes, which were the bar, the cord windows for A, D, and E, and I started to play a Joe Brown song called Bottle of Wine, Fruit of the Vine.
