in and amongst it but Joe Bevan again it would be sort of quite hypocritical of me to say to Luke you can't call up Barney Stewart and James Wilson because of a couple of good games and then for me to say call up Joe Bevan but he is one he's on my radar if I was a Scotland manager he'd be in my notebook let me tell you I hope he gets picked for the under 21s unless he's 22 as well but I think he's 22 as well I don't understand the under-21 rule though, because there's a lot of 22-year-olds that play in the under-21s.

it's like the start of the qualification campaign of your 21, maybe, so I think they'll miss out.

But look, we'll start in under-22s and we'll get your boys in.

If Josh McPake hadn't been in such red-hot form in the last couple of weeks, I would have said just get Joe Bevan in.

So, I don't know really if there's a way to monitor that, but if a player makes X amount of appearances, they are then first team player.

It's no longer giving an opportunity to a youth product, if you get me, because without, where is it? So Dundee, 8.9% of their entire team minutes given to first team players last season went to players eligible for Scotland under 21s without Luke Graham it was 0.1% Joe Bevan 37 minutes that was it so yes Dundee's figures look good for we gave youngsters a bit of an opportunity but it was one guy and he was in the first team going to play anyway so is there some sort of method to track that that I wouldn't go as far as saying it's kind of cheating the system a bit but it's it's not quite what is intended for if you get me

I think you're right, and I think it will be tracked.

That type of thing, if it gets pushed through, will be tracked, it will be looked at.

He'd had, he had a, he had a couple of top stops.

Astley and Bevan were doing really well in the box.

Um, we're getting- And running down very slowly, probably ... to the last 20 minutes.

And I think they sh- they, they changed a couple of things.

They brought on a couple of substitutes 'cause guys were getting tired.

And they brought on Joe Bevan, and I thought maybe they should have looked for a couple of long balls, you know, from defense.

And I think that this is the right time to see a bit more, you know, take a few risks in terms of, uh, call-ups and yeah, there's a few younger players.

Obviously we've talked a lot about Joe, Joe Bevan as well, just made the move to Dundee and spent a bit of time down South at Burnley, obviously in the Academy there previously at Albion Rovers and, um, I actually seen him a few times playing against Stirling Uni when he was playing in the Olin

league.

I was waiting for it.

You know what you're going to get from him and that's a dynamic that I'd really like to see in the Scotland side.

And I think the way that Pockignoli plays, they're quite aggressive in and out of possession, you know, especially when they press teams.

And I just think having players like Joe Bevan and Calvin Miller, who's quite a dogged player anyway, obviously we've seen him play at left back for Hearts this season as well.

So I think those type of players would be nice to see getting called up.

And I think that's probably what caught...

Dundee out especially in the beginning because they were a wee bit all over the place the press was all over the place and I think it was actually partly because of what we had in the front areas but also what Jacob Devaney's like what he brought to the middle of the park which then allowed Mulligan to do a little bit more and allowed Passlack to push a little bit higher so essentially we had low up the sort of he was just trying to occupy Astley and Bevan who were at centre half Boyle was on this side Wright was in this sort of left inside position but he did more than that it's a bit redundant to say that's all he did he did much more than that and then McGrath was out in a left wing back role and we spoke about last week how he played there you know he's had experience there before and he did brilliant out there when he has done but you sort of sometimes felt like it's a wee bit wasted having him out there when he could be doing so much more in the middle and What it allowed, obviously, Paslak, I think, committed and certainly played a lot higher.

I had a quick look at Huddle and Statsbomb and certainly Paslak was really influential on that right side.

I remember from last season how often, when you looked at the end of games, his average position was sometimes closer to the halfway line compared to, say, Nicky Caddins that would be up there.

Salinger played a little bit higher as well.

And where it caused...

Dundee a lot of problems was because he Devaney's almost exclusively sat deeper to try and link on the ball I don't think they really got to grips with pressing the back three so they were trying to press the back three and he was just finding out Devaney was just getting us lots of space obviously because we had these guys as wingbacks Bevan and I think it's Charlie Riley on the other side they were getting pinned in here and obviously for Ryan Finnegan and Ethan Hamilton, who were deep, they were constantly getting overloaded because they were 3v2 in the middle in this position here, you can see.

So if one of them went to go and try and apply that pressure, somebody like Callum Wright could just move into this position here and get into that space.

He brought in Bradley Pink.

from the start and he was supposed to be playing just behind Joe Wesley who despite scoring did not have a great game for me the problem is that we have a very young squad and naturally you know the forward players are always a little bit up and down anyway but particularly when they're younger Joe Bevan was at least trying to make things happen albeit he kept running into Hibs players which sort of prevented things from happening And Charlie Riley was anonymous today.

And you'll see for the second goal, he's megged in the build-up to it and was basically immediately hooked after that.

I thought Ferry done really well up against Joe Bevan.

Didn't give him an inch, which was obviously good.
