But to me, I go back to the Joe Hortiz thing, which I don't know if we're going to talk about more, but I can't blame Joe Hortiz for Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt not being healthy or not playing well or Justin Herbert not playing well.

But you can blame him for how he approached the offseason and his inability to spend money at the level that is required to protect your quarterback, right? To

an extent.

It's not a base defense, but you've got a 6'2", 240 pounder on the line of scrimmage who can play edge defender at a high level.

We've seen him rush against Joe Alt.

We've seen him like actually rush the passer against offensive tackles and be successful.

This was the thing with Derwin James.

the Tennessee Titans as well.

Joe Alt.

Oh, yeah.

The Chargers? Yeah.

Damn, three years? And they have no

offensive line in three years? When they picked Joe Alt over Malik Neighbors, they said, we believe offensive linemen are weapons.

And our goal is to protect Herbert.

And the offensive line is currently the worst it's ever been.

That I will buy.

I do feel like it can get better because I do feel like some of the pieces that they're going to get back is going to allow them to play better football, you know, with, you know, some of their protectors that they're hopefully going to get back with Joe Alt and Coyote Awosika, hopefully, right? You know, we don't know, obviously, with that particular injury, but...

Not only that, but hopefully getting Lab McConkie back, being healthy, hopefully being able to get Brennan Thompson on the field and being able to stay on the field.

That would be very, very nice.

So let's look at what happened on Monday.

Joe Alt returned after missing the previous two games.

Now it's a neck issue, but we all know how important Joe Alt is.

I mean, he's likely going to be one of our best players.

If we trade Khalil Mack on the offensive side, just from a pure skill standpoint, he is our best young player on the offensive side.

I thought he rushed...

I think he rushed Joe Alt.

And he sort of got Joe Alt on an island and sort of rushed the pass from Herbert.

So there was quite good signs in that game.

And it was a good game to get back, I think.
