Job Dekker

The original question that I had was, what does it take to switch off one of the two X chromosomes? What are the missing sequences around the Xist gene that would allow it to work? We realized that in order to capture what was missing, we needed to apply a technique that would identify these missing sequences.

I heard a scientist called Job Decker, who's in the States, who gave a talk about a new technique he developed called chromosome confirmation capture.

This is back in the early 2000s.

And I managed to convince a brilliant student I had called Elfej Nora.
