Joan Wilder

And

the idea that like Katherine Hagel would be playing Joan Wilder for me was meant like from the outset that it was just automatically going to be bad.

And so I just thought, well, that's a bummer because if they're going to like remake it, I wish they'd at least try to...

I mean, I know it's not going to be as good as the original, but I might enjoy some aspect of it if they at least remake it well.

And that's the way we start here.

Um, is it true, really true, that you attempted to convince Debra Winger to take on the role of Joan Wilder in Romancing the Stone over dinner with Danny DeVito, Jack Nicholson, and the director, Robert Zemeckis? That happened.

No.

Okay.

Mm-hmm.

And very hard.

And for Joan Wilder, the character.

So, um, uh, she was up making T- uh, Ter- uh, Terms of Endearment in, in, um, in Texas.

But in this, um, Michael Douglas was a very manly like American, um, bird hunter.

So the story is that Kathleen Turner, iconic actress Kathleen Turner played Joan Wilder.

She was a very successful romance author, but you know, lonely.
