Marjorie told us about one shared death experience that especially stayed with her.

It happened to Dr. Joan Borysenko, a Harvard-trained scientist and pioneer in mind-body medicine, as her mother was dying.

I was asked by David Lorimer when we were doing a conference called Beyond the Brain to interview Joan Borysenko.

She's a person that a lot of people may have heard about before because her own background is phenomenal in that she got her PhD from Harvard Medical School working in cancer cell biology, and she's a distinguished pioneer in integrative medicine, and she's a world-renowned expert in the mind-body connection, and she has her own background in meditation.

She had this amazing shared death experience with her mother, and I thought she's the perfect person to actually integrate in our understanding what it's like from the neuroscience point of view and what it's like from the meditator point of view with your own mother as you're going through this.

Perhaps not as much of a feminist, but certainly a pioneering hospice and death work, uh, worker helping people.
