JLA, year one

I think just the, the quote by Scott Lobdell, when I was reading that, had me rolling.

So then Waid jumped back over to DC where he did JLA: Year One maxi series and pitched a revamp of the Superman titles with Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, and Tom Peyer, and that was initially accepted by DC editorial, then canceled in favor of giving Jeph Loeb and Joe Kelly control of the Superman books because it was reportedly explained to him that the creators couldn't be a bigger draw than the Superman franchise, and that he'd never write an ongoing Superman title.

That changed years later.

This led to a very public bad blood between DC and the group of writers, though Waid did eventually take over writing JLA after Grant Morrison left.

He's been a pro for over four decades, and one thing he's known for is his crisp line work that makes characters feel alive on every page.

Along his standout runs on DC and Marvel, he's especially known for teaming with Mark Waid on books like Empire, Legion of Super-Heroes, JLA: Year One.
