Jimmy Wakely

bullet through my heart

It's beautiful inside, you can't go wrong with that Well, let's move on to Jimmy Wakely, Moon Over Montana.

Another sad piece of music to cry yourself to sleep to.

Moon

His

grandfather made a bet with Jimmy Wakely, who was a cowboy movie star whom I remember from my boyhood days.

He was also a singing cowboy and made a lot of movies.

And he bet that civilization was encroaching upon the cowboy and ranching and cattle ranching and all that kind of stuff and that there were no cowboys left.

who could really do what the old cowboys used to do.

And so his grandfather bet with Jimmy Wakely that he could, and he did.

But by the hair of his teeth, I can tell you that.

By the hair on his chinny-chin-chin.

He co-wrote iconic hits like Cold Sweat alongside James Brown.

Jimmy Wakely passed away in 1982 at the age of 68 from heart failure.

He was a major star back in the 1940s and 50s.

He was one of the singing cowboys in the Western films and also on the country music charts.

And when I got to Hollywood, I was in, in the beginning of the, uh, Country and Western Association.

And so I met all those guys, Roy and Gene and Tex Ritter and, uh, Ben Johnson, Jimmy Wakely, Rex Allen.

I mean, I could just go on and on and on because they all got together because their way of life was diminishing.

They didn't have any place to go to work anymore.
