Buddy was honored with the organization's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 and was previously named Artist of the Decade by No Depression.

In addition to serving as executive music producer for ABC TV's Nashville series, Buddy has released seven studio albums as a solo artist, a duo album with Jim Lauderdale, and four duo albums with his wife and longtime musical partner Julie Miller.

Buddy's most recent project, his first solo album in 22 years, is the self-titled Buddy Miller.

Part One Well, Scott, you and I have been to a lot of shows together over the years since we met in 1990 or whenever it was.

And one of those shows, I think, was in 2012.

We went to the Troubadour here in Los Angeles to see Jim Lauderdale and Buddy Miller, which was an awesome night.

And we went to that show together.

But when we had the opportunity to talk to Buddy Miller, unfortunately, we weren't able to do that together.

Meanwhile, in Nashville tonight, they're also celebrating another country music giant that I love and honor so good.

A sold-out Harlan Howard 99th birthday bash is scheduled at 3rd and Linsley tonight, hosted by our buddy Jim Lauderdale, and featuring an enormous group of songwriters, including my friends Radney Foster, Leanne Womack, Mandy Burnett, Costas, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Pat Algerman, Tracy Berger, and others.

I'm telling you, that is a songwriter room to be in.

The Oak Ridge Boys has also got a new album coming out called Buried Treasures, which I think is hilarious.

Ella is now three albums deep into a celebrated solo career spanning folk, rock, country and Americana.

Splitting her time between Nashville and Melbourne, Ella is now collaborating on a new record with Grammy Award winning Nashville stalwarts like Jim Lauderdale, Steve Foltz, Melody Walker and Claire Reynolds.

We're excited to catch up with Ella today to talk about the first two singles from the forthcoming album, Overnight Success, out next month,

along with the corresponding tour.

And I remember I was I don't remember if it was what it was, but it was just in my house.

And on the back page, there was an interview with this engineer musician, Randy Coors, who at that time was doing a lot of Jim Lauderdale records.

And I think I was familiar with Jim because I liked Yup Rock Records.

And in the 2000s, if you found a band you liked and they had a label, you would just like, at least I would, I would just be like, oh, I want to hear every band that's on this record label.

And then on Sunday you've got Maren Morris, Emmylou Harris, Shakey Graves, The Phyllis Brothers, Ann Wilson, Kezia Gill, Ryan and Rory, Lily Fitz, and Emily Scott Robinson.

And then also across the weekend you've got Bell- Bec O'Malley, Bobby Dove, Brennan Lee, Dan Byrne, Dawson Anderson, Dylan Earl, Errol Linton, Ferris and Sylvester, Gina Larner, Haley Jensen, Horse Bath, Jim Lauderdale, Jonny Morgan and The Moral Support, Jordan O'Keefe, Ken Pome- Pomeroy, Knucklehead, Liam Price, Lizzy No, Locks, Luca Foggel, Mia Kelly, Oliver Hazard, Outpost Drive, Riley Downen, Rosalie Cunningham, Sarah Jane Scowten, Shayna G, Simon Howard, Slow Motion Cowboy, Smithfields, Stella Prince, Sweet Thieves, Hanging Stars, Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou, William Matheny and Zandy Hollop.

I feel like I did all right on that.

And, um, I just remember playing that show and, uh, I had never met him before, but as we finished the show and I'm getting up and getting ready to pack up my congas and drag 'em backstage and everything, and I feel a tap on my shoulder.

I turn around and there's Jim Lauderdale standing right behind me.

Mm-hmm.

And he goes, "Great show, man.

You know, just going down to Suwannee over the years, just met so many people and, and, and musicians, and, and it's a, it's a family, you know?

For sure.

If you ever meet Jim Lauderdale, just hand him coffee.

That's a good way to say hi.

So many people look up to you.

as Jim Lauderdale said, and every day I put on my pants one leg at a time.

So I'm curious about your experiences being seen as such an incredible legend in bluegrass and how it impacts your life, if it does at all.

Well, when I started being referred to as a legend, which was probably 10 or 15 years ago, I was going, oh, man, it's too early for this.

Jim Lauderdale, Lucinda, the term and the genre Americana was created to house those legends, and it is because of them that Taya and I were actually even discovered.

Yeah.

Yeah.

We went with Curb, my publisher, and so we were there with the team.

But seeing Emmylou Harris get inducted last night, seeing J.J. Cale, Jim Lauderdale get inducted, and it's a great example of...

Yeah, you see these people at the Hall of Fame induction on kind of the other side of the career get to get their flowers and be rewarded, but awarded, I suppose.

But yeah, very much so.
