Have you found any other, like, breakthrough-
26:37
So let me...
26:37
There's so many things coming to mind here.
26:38
But so what- the first thing that comes to mind is, you know, when I look at the definition of bravery, it is voluntary action in the presence of fear toward a noble, worthwhile goal.
26:38
So first and foremost, the difference between, like, bravery and, like, bravado or stupid bravery is y- it has to be pointed to an intrinsic self-concordant goal, so something you really want.
26:38
Someone might say, like, "I'm just not a marathon runner, but I never wanna be a fricking marathon runner." They're not gonna be brave to do it 'cause they don't want it.
26:38
You know, for me, the road to earning the United States Marine title was something that was a noble, worthwhile goal, so I wanted to keep working toward it.

What did you learn from that? And what would you tell everybody else?
1:03
How, how do we go about doing that?
1:04
Um, yeah, and that is really what I'm all about.
1:06
It's the how.
1:06
So, you know, just a little bit about fear first.
1:10
Like, fear is this force that many times controls your behavior if you let it.
1:18
And from a, if we look at the science behind fear, if sometimes fear controls your behavior, you're just normal 'cause you're human.
1:27
We know from Daniel Kahneman's research, um, who he won the Nobel Prize for this research, that we're twice as motivated to eliminate risk or to avoid what we fear than to move toward what we want.

17 MINS LATER

18:27
Oh, yeah
1:47
That's really
1:48
cool.
1:48
It's

20 MINS LATER

22:16
What I
22:17
discovered is bravery is not just for the heroes.
22:19
It's for every one of us because we all encounter fear in our lives.
22:24
And sometimes it's day in and day out.
22:26
Maybe it's the fear of having a difficult conversation.
