The state of Israel is a modern state created in the moment that many other nation-states were created in the period of the late 19th, early 20th century, is when empires were falling and lots and lots of nation states were being created, including Israel.

And Israel is also important to Jews because part of the reason that Israel was created was because in that moment in nation states, Jews were asking the question of, okay, well, there was a moment when it looked like enlightenment might bring safety for Jews in Western Europe in particular.

So all to say that having Justin Israel Day Parade reduces the entirety of New York Jewish identity to connection to one country, which is a part of many people or most New York Jews identities, but it's not the entirety of it.

And it means that also because this parade is led by a delegation that comes from – that's organized by the consulate that comes from the Israeli government, it means that being in this parade is – basically forces you, it's essentially a litmus test of, you know, forces you to march behind the current Israeli government, which, you know, seems like you're agreeing with their particular positions.
