Jet Set Willy

He says, what is it they are lacking here? Shame, respect, or taste? Looks like all of the above to me.

And to steal a pun from elsewhere, if we tolerate this, Jet Set Willy will be next.

But if you ask me, this game is an international war crime.

It's awful.

Yeah.

I, I never enjoyed Jet Set Willy really, but Manic Miner, great game.

I mean, I hate the look of this.

I hate it.

This is a shame, innit, 'cause like it could be an absolute home run, like quality.

For likes that throw in, uh, Jet Set Willy with some quality of life improvements.

Maybe even finish, like Meets The Taxman or something like that, do you know?

So it sort of cuts down.

the potential issues, especially, and this is another assumption of mine, that if I choose, and we might pick up on explaining what an earth RAID is, is choosing like what I was thinking of doing, which is a RAID 1 mirror.

So you have two drives, they're mirrored to each other.

And because that's done in hardware from a chip inside the DAS, there's hardly anything that can go wrong there.

And I think we should talk about some of those things because I would like to talk about Alex and Sharon, right? I'd like to talk about their situation and see if we can come up with an answer for them as well.

But the one recommendation I had, because I've had a lot of luck with this and I've used it before, and I believe this is the unit that Eric owns as well, is from OWC, which is Otherworld Computing, and that is their Gemini, which is an external Thunderbolt two-drive enclosure.

And you can pick it up as any of their enclosures, you can pick up as what they call a DIY enclosure, where you are adding your own drives to it.

You can certainly buy them with drives, but you can also pick it up as a DIY so it's empty, and you just stick whatever drives you happen to have into it and either set it up as, like you said, a RAID 0, where everything's striped across the two drives, or a RAID 1, where you are mirroring the contents.

... yeah.

Over on TikTok, Jet Set Willy, [chuckles] which is a great game in, in and of itself.

Um, you know, a brilliant bit of platforming.

Reminds me very much of, uh, you know, like, Jet Set Willy and, uh, uh, and sort of games like that, uh, that are sort of one room.

Um, I played a lot of that style of game years ago, like Punchy and Hunchback and things like that.

But yeah, I mean, this one here, I think this is the one Blund has got stuck on, wasn't it? Was that the one with the electricity, uh, going up and down? Um-

The first of these ports is one everyone listening should at least be aware of it, or if not, played it.

And that's Jet Set Willy.

This has to be one of the most famous ZX Spectrum games of all time, created by Matthew Smith in 1984 and the follow-up to the breakout hit Manic Minor.

This has Minor Willie staggering around his house after a heavy night out, going into the different rooms of his massive mansion, trying to collect all the glasses left over from the night before.
