Jesus in Islam

Now that's very important to make that distinction.

The Quran calls Jesus Isa, I-S-A, the Messiah and a messenger and a teacher that was born of Mary.

Now all of that sounds maybe to somebody as familiar as they just look at it on the surface, but it explicitly rejects Christian understanding about his crucifixion.

And they part ways there.

And the differences, they're pretty fascinating.

So in this first part of our series on understanding Islam, we're going to explore what our Muslim neighbors believe about Jesus, or as he's known in Arabic, Isa.

Let's begin with common ground, because there's actually a lot more of it than what you might think.

For Christians, the story of Jesus starts with his miraculous birth, and Muslims believe that too.

Later on we find out what happens.

Allah accepts Maryam to be the mother of the Nabi Isa .

Allahu Akbar.

Who is mentioned in the Quran today? Maryam mentioned in the Quran today.

Where did the relationship begin with Allah ? What was the glue between them and Allah ? It began with a sincere intention within the heart and a mention to Allah I've made this child for you and when the child was conceived and born that child was dedicated to the worship of Allah So what happened? That child became the one who gave a miraculous birth to Isa ibn Maryam.

And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions that story in the Quran as well.

Relationship after relationship after relationship, all based on one thing, and that is none other than Allah, Rabbul Izzati wal Jalal.

For Christian, Jesus Christ is the Son of God and central to the doctrine of salvation.

Islam rejects the divinity of Jesus and understands Isa Ibn Maryam Alaihissalam, Son of Mary, as the Messiah, a mighty messenger of God.

Those differences cannot simply be blended together, and yet both traditions assign Jesus an extraordinary role near the end of time.

He's gonna be our savior.

Before the age of 40.

And then even the Quran strengthens that, because it talks about he was in his ma'at, that the Prophet ﷺ, we're talking about Isa now, was a prophet as a child.

Now, prior to that, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was being prepared for prophecy.

We see that in his childhood, with his heart being cleaned and these things.

I'll give you another one.

Let me give you a hadith.

There's a hadith on Isa ibn Maryam.

One day, Isa ibn Maryam was walking with some of his companions.

Two messiahs.

So there's the true messiah, al-Masih al-Haqq, who is Isa ibn Maryam alayhi salam.

And there is the fake one, the imposter, the liar, who will come and claim that he's what? He's Allah azawajal, that he's God.

God walking on earth.

So read it, memorize it, and understand it so that that will be protection for you from Ad-Dajjal.

He said, salallahu alayhi wa sallam, that how long will he stay on this earth? He says 40 days.

So I want you to remember, it's 40 days for Ad-Dajjal, 40 years for Isa ibn Maryam.

40 years for Isa ibn Maryam on this earth, but Ad-Dajjal as Dajjal, in his sort of falsehood, 40 days.
