Let's talk about some of the female characters a little bit.
Kiki CannonHOST

Let's talk about, just real quick, Jessica Hines, who is awesome in this and most other things she has appeared in, as Yvonne as the mirror to Sean, because everybody in Yvonne's group is a mirror to somebody in Sean's group, as we see in that great, quick scene of Yvonne's group and Sean's group passing each other.
Ian BondsGUEST

about a group of young people would recommend highly i would also recommend east of eden on netflix which i've now finished thoroughly enjoyable adaptation of the great american novel it's dark and it's desperate at times but the plot the pacing the visuals the casting the performances are all in service of the themes of acceptance guilt and freedom east of eden is time well spent i think and I finished 2012 the BBC again this is one of my shows that I've gone back to I've gone backwards in a way because I started with 2026 but similarly to that it was the marketing team that brought me the most laughs a really good comedic ensemble with Jessica Hines and Olivia Coleman the standouts going to take a little bit of a break before I go into W1A but I will complete that little series of shows and I've also finished the five-star weekend which is on Sky and Now TV I don't think I'm the intended audience for this, but I was hooked by the charm of the cast, the sparky dialogue and the twists and turns.
Adam HemmingHOST

It's basically about a woman who's a kind of baker influencer whose husband has passed away and she invites different friends from different parts of her life to spend time with her in her home for a weekend in Nantucket.

anything! Does it treat women well? Does any Edgar Wright movie treat women well? Because that was something, we were in a WhatsApp group and someone pointed out that they love Shaun of the Dead, but feel like it could have stronger female characters.
JackHOST
47:21
which especially coming after Spaced which was co-written by Simon Pegg and Jessica Hines who plays Yvonne in this movie the sort of question of like there were better female characters in Spaced and then this Liz is good but like is sort of not sexy lamp territory but not
Yiannis CoveGUEST
47:40

NoraHOST

So if you'd like to hear more about this night of joy, of deep-dive conversation, of comedy, of glorious music, a night where, as Emmeline Pankhurst said at the Royal Albert Hall in 1912, "I incite this meeting to rebellion," a night of turning around and doing a 180 on the road to Gilead, then go to guiltyfeminist.com and get on our mailing list because then you'll be the first to hear everything.

Uh, and, uh, if you're, if you're, uh, if you're from the UK and sort of over 40, uh, and under 60, you, bet you Spaced was probably formative.
Mark BurrowsGUEST
42:38
Um, and then Spaced springboarded into the, the brilliant, um, this brilliant relationship he has with Simon Pegg, the films he made with him, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, um, World's End, and then Hollywood came calling and he's done some brilliant Hollywood movies.
Jonny HenniganHOST

And they're st- he's still, Shaun's still, you know, set on the fact that w- they're heading to the Winchester pub, and, you know, they're sort of going down this back allay- back alley of like a suburban area.
Jonny HenniganHOST

And then we get this almost mirroring of where they bump into Jessica Stevenson, who was in Spaced with Simon Pegg, um, and she's playing Yvonne, and she's referred to in the cre- uh, in, in, in a lot of the credit, um, like on IMDb I'm sure, as well as Wikipedia, that it's Yvonne, Shaun's friend.
