Jeshurun

Deuteronomy 32, 15.

But Jeshurun waxed fat and kicked.

Thou art waxing fat.

Thou art grown thick.

This is repeated in revelation chapter 12.

When we see that woman who's clothed with the sun, the moon, and the stars, she is, she is, uh, carried away by the eagle like the wings of an eagle into the wilderness and protected so this is again prophetic connecting us to eschatology um yahweh alone guided him and there was no foreign god with him he made him ride on the high places of the earth and he ate the produce of the field and he made him suck honey from the rock and the oil from the flinty rock curds of cows and milk of the flock and the fat of lambs and rams and breed of bashan and goats with the finest of the wheat and the blood of the grapes you drank wine Um, but, but Jeshurun, so this is like a, like a pet name for, for Israel, Jerusalem, um, grew fat and kicked you grew fat, thick and sleek.

Uh, he, then he abandoned God who made him and he treated the rock of his salvation with wicked foolishness.

Did the nation of Israel reject the rock of their salvation? Who is the rock of the salvation?

I call for assistance from heaven.

Oh God of Jeshurun.

The helper of men.

The lifter of men.

Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you.

Fear not, O Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

Why should they not fear? Verse three, for I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground.

I will.

Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you from the womb, and will help you.

Fear not, O Jacob, my servant.

Jeshurun is another name for Jacob or Israel with intimacy, whom I have chosen.

In essence, what's happening in verses one and two, this is supernatural assurance given by the Lord God Almighty to his children.

Isaiah 44 verse two to three says, this is what the Lord says, He who made you, who formed you in the womb and who will help you.

Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun.

The title of my message today is a statement that I've heard my mum say to me, my wife now says it to me and she says it to my kids, but it's a true statement and it's this, it's two words and it's stay hydrated.

Turn to your neighbour and say, stay hydrated.

Here's the kicker, verse 15.

But Jeshurun, now Jeshurun is a code name for Jerusalem or for Israel.

But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked.

You grew fat and thick and sleek.

Then he abandoned God who made him and traded the rock of his salvation with wicked foolishness, made him jealous with strange gods.

Lord, I declare no obstacle on my way.

God of Jeshurun, arise.

Go before me like a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire consuming everything that is not of God.

Yokes from darkness, the scorching wounds of men, divinations, manipulations in the dark world, I decree and declare the God that is as a pillar of fire is against you.

[cheering] He suffered no man to do them wrong.

He reproved kings for their sakes, saying, "Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm." Anybody who will not give you peace, who has made up his mind that under their watch you must cry, I call upon the God of Jeshurun, the one who rides upon the wings of the wind.

May He arise for you as a God of vengeance.

[cheering] May He arise for you as a God of vengeance.

I pray for someone.

The dimension of wealth you have not seen, I call upon my God, the God of Jeshurun, the one who rides upon the wings of the wind.

May my God surprise you.

[cheering]
