If you would like to become an executive producer for Mage the Podcast, it would help us keep producing episodes like this one.
AdamHOST
55:26
You would also become a part of our own council to discuss upcoming projects.
Steve CampbellHOST
20:40
yeah.
Tim LyonsHOST
20:41
Officially Jervis Johnson to attend.
Steve CampbellHOST
20:43
That's going to be awesome.
Tim LyonsHOST
20:45
Pretty cool.
Ben RiggsHOST
10:23
you know,
Chris PramasGUEST
10:24
Jervis Johnson.
Chris PramasGUEST
10:24
It's just like a whole, it's like the 90s of Games Workshop.
Chris PramasGUEST
10:30
The team's gotten back together again.
Chris PramasGUEST
10:33
That's pretty cool to see.
Mike FranchinaGUEST
10:35
yeah it's pretty neat i mean i remember reading like white dwarf and stuff and seeing like jervis johnson and andy chambers and like the the byline for the article and here i am like working working with them you know it's pretty pretty weird yeah
Chris PramasGUEST
10:52
what also shows the changes in games workshop because they used to promote their creative people you know you would read white dwarf and they would tell you they would give personalities to their designers and things like that at a certain point they their entire credits page turned into produced by games workshop and not even And I didn't credit any individual person.
Mike FranchinaGUEST
11:16
Yeah.
Richard GunsonGUEST
18:54
And we were very lucky, I think, to be a part of that.
Richard HobsonGUEST
18:58
were three legends who hung it together though i mean obviously sawyer was doing the writing um and i think uh you know white dwarf went through a phenomenal change when he took over um robin jews actually kicked this off and then you had mad as a bag of bees jervis johnson in the background as well coming up with stuff so but they were they were all they all had their own own talents and the three of them together um you know with with four distinct characters from four different parts of the business i just think it it just knitted together perfectly
SeanGUEST
19:30
well on that i was going to ask because um so you all worked for games workshop at the time and all in different departments um so what were your exact roles at the company and how did you come to work at games workshop in the first place i i think
Richard HobsonGUEST
19:45
most of us we at the time although certainly me obviously was a collector and a gamer.

16 MINS LATER

Richard HobsonGUEST
36:11
I saw a lot more of you.
Richard HobsonGUEST
36:14
And I want to say, going back to Robin, he kept a fairly loose rein on us.
Richard HobsonGUEST
36:23
It was only at the end when they let Mad Jervis Johnson loose on the final one, which was, it was completely bonkers.
Richard HobsonGUEST
36:34
Mad,
Ivan SorensenGUEST
39:33
It's the same, like you get an email from somebody who was like, oh, I just started playing miniatures gaming because five weeks or par six or whatever.
Ivan SorensenGUEST
39:42
And it's like, you know, it makes you think back of like when I was a kid and, you know, like I started playing miniatures games because of like, you know, Jervis Johnson and Andy Chambers and those guys.
Ivan SorensenGUEST
39:53
Right.
Ivan SorensenGUEST
39:54
So realizing that you have that same position for somebody else is like really, you know, um, so yeah, it's, um, just getting through, like obviously like being able to sit and create things.
RogPANELIST
3:42
Yeah, turning up with a new mega army.
DuncanHOST
3:46
But I guess it's a matter of discipline, right? Because Jervis Johnson would do this sometimes.
DuncanHOST
3:49
Remember, he'd go to some tournaments, but he'd go to them specifically to interact with the players.
DuncanHOST
3:55
And he'd play, and Jervis was famously unlucky and bad at Warhammer, even though he was the writer of it.
