Jerry Schumacher

She's a Nike pro.

She trains under coach Jerry Schumacher in Eugene, Oregon.

And her past two months are the type of season that most athletes would dream of.

Here's how it played out for her.

Kazmier- Merska? Yeah, the Polish Oregon duck coached by Jerry Schumacher, Nike Swoosh TC slash the group formerly known as Bowerman Track Club, had a absolute nuts breakout season this year.

She was silver in the European Championship 1500.

She was-

This is your, your prime course.

Uh, I think you like to bring this out in, in talks and discussions because, as you mentioned, your extensive history in the sport, uh, you know, making Foot Locker, I believe twice, winning a state championship, if I'm not mistaken, running for Stanford, UNC, uh, now being a pro running coach for Nike under Jerry Schumacher.

You know a thing or two, so when you say, 10 things I wish as a, a, I wish I knew as a high school runner, uh, there's validity there.

So I don't even know where to start with this one.

fabulous.And, you know, at home, in the Diamond League in Poland like a month ago, and she was PR-ing but getting like fourth.

So some people criticize like Danny Mackey and Jerry Schumacher for not letting their athletes run very much.

But when they peak them like that, can you really complain?

Well, Kazmierowski, Robert, that fourth place in Silesia, it was because she led a lot of that and was going for the national record on home soil, which she got.

I mean, Jody Beamish didn't exactly say that, but he did admit that winning medals was one of the reasons he chose to run the steeplechase, and he becomes the world champion within two years of doing that.

Uh, same thing, like Evan, like think about Evan Jager.

I don't know if it was purely about, "Hey, this is my best path to success." You know, Jerry Schumacher saw that he was naturally, he had a nice bouncy stride, and he was suited for it.

But like would J- Evan Jager made a world championships team in the 5K, but like would he have ever medaled in the 5 or 15? I'm not sure about that.

Not only does he have a 13:18 5K PR, he is coaching at the highest level at a very young age.

He's younger than me, and he's assistant coach to Jerry Schumacher at Nike Swoosh TC in Eugene, Oregon, working with the likes of Charles Hicks, Klaudia, I'm gonna butcher this last name, Kazimierska, who won the Diamond League Women's 1500 final, uh, Cole Sprou, Justin Knight, several other top athletes.

Very impressive that he's coaching at the highest level at such a young age.

We talked about his career progression.

What's, uh, what's been the year difference maker for her, uh, to be the best in the-- one of the best in the world now?

We started seeing some things probably in, like, January and February that Klaudia was doing in workouts that were pretty impressive, and, and working with Jerry Schumacher as my head coach, the, the roster of experience that he's built over the past 20 years, like, there are certain benchmark sessions, even if they haven't been replicated exactly, like, there are-- They all have similar flavors and themes, and you just kind of know that if an athlete can a- can, like, achieve this workout or hit those splits, like, you're in for something special.

the Oregon Track and Field account, and, uh, many people don't see this side of Coach Jerry Schumacher all that often, and he-

Most people don't see any side of Jerry.

Hats off to her and...

Coach Jerry Schumacher, Shalane Flanagan, just done a wonderful job.

She's just got a lot of strength, a lot of speed, a lot of confidence.

You know, interesting.

Like Georgia Hunter Bell won two, but then Berka Hailem won one, Nikki Hiltz won one, Daguma won one.

Claudia Kazimierska was the revelation of the Zurich Broad Diamond League Finals, a former Oregon Duck, now coached by Jerry Schumacher, 354 world leader.

But as sensational as that was, she shocked herself.

I mean, I think Kazimierska certainly is red hot.

It's interesting because I was into Let's Run a lot at that time because they were breaking it down very well.

They had a live interview with several running medias with Shelby, Jerry Schumacher.

Jerry Schumacher to this day has stayed by our side.

and, like, Carissa Schweizer was still training with her and stuff, and everyone in her circle, like, supported her, all the Bowerman people did, and then, like, Dom Schluter, who we just talked about, he had her on around that time, has had her on some since, and I remember talking to him about that, like, when we first met him, and I think his opinion was like, look, she emptied out, she emptied out her bank account to like prove her innocence.

Like the guilty person doesn't do that, which is like somewhat of a valid argument.

And one thing that never sat right with me was Jerry Schumacher saying, I have never heard of Nandrolone.
