Jerry Schmidt

Schmitty, we had our strength.

For a couple of years, Jerry Schmidt, who was awesome, and Rob Glass was his assistant.

We knew how to get after it and how to work and fight for one another.

And we really enjoyed the friendship of our teammates.

Like, you know, and you add it to the fact that some other things that, you know, the outside world may not even understand.

Like, I mean, Jerry Schmidt, my strength coach at college, the university of Oklahoma, I mean, one of the most intense things, strength coaches ever right you know what i'm saying and so i dealt with jerry schmidt schmitty every day like as a young as a young freshman coming into college and um i just mentally it just it really callous helped callous the mind on top of what i have already been through in in in my childhood and leading into my adulthood man so like i just to me a lot of that consistent character it it naturally builds trust in human beings because you realize like this this guy is who he is all the time right like it's never it's never going to waver it's never going to change this guy's unbreakable um and as mentioned before when people know that you're unbreakable and self-aware um It creates a different kind of trust because, you know, you know, this is a guy that like if you need to say something to him about something, normally he already he already has thought of thought of this or corrected that kind of mistake or is going to correct.

You know what I'm trying to say? So that's just kind of the way that I see it.

It was a country club in many ways when John Blake was there, and it turned into a full-scale boot camp where those guys were gonna get tougher and meaner and in better shape.

And Jerry Schmidt was coming in, and it was ...

I remember just thinking, my dad asking me, "Well, what do you think? Have you been over there, you know, with the Stoops', uh, practices and everything? What do you see?" And I said, "It's a totally different world.

It is totally different." And it was.
