And I'd like to think that especially artists of this – you know of of this type um not that they need to live up to some legend or legacy but being able to have that much time behind you looking forward they're not wasting time and i think that's why you know mentioning jonathan the you know only frozen sky anyway i mean he mean yeah that record is incredible maybe that that could be jonathan's best record and it's way up there man it's way up there and it just came out last summer right and then you've got ed's you know the final painting and it's beautiful you know there's a song in there called bacon and eggs and it's just it's great um it
53:38
is it is that is a truly great song and i'll tell you the first time i toured with ed like that became like i mean that song's just all the songs are very ed i will tell you like if some if somebody's like it's like what was that ask you like i'd be like well i knew him you know for 15 years or so and if you listen to the records that he made in that time period, that's what he was like.
54:15
In the first tour we ever did together, we really he really wanted to get some bacon and eggs one day and it became like a joke because for some reason we could not find a place for like three or four days in a row to get bacon and eggs and then we finally did and it was just this sort of joyous moment like we accomplished something you know and it was like we couldn't figure out we were like on the east coast you know all the cities all the drives were only a couple hours it was really weird that we couldn't find a place for a couple days to sit down and have bacon and eggs and so when we finally did but so that song reminds me of that tour i mean it's different the song's not a song's definitely not about having breakfast with me and having to listen to me while I'm driving him around in a sedan.
55:05
But it was, you know, those songs are, Ed's songs are very much who he was and is.
55:14
And it's, they're time capsules for about like his point of view and the way he saw the world and what he thought about.
55:22
And, you know, he's, the songs are, he's a very egoless songwriter and he's a very egoless person.
55:39
But especially for a songwriter.
59:48
But I'm curious how he... know influenced you as a songwriter but also as a person because

[laughs]
22:38
Yeah.
22:39
And so I just listened to both of those CDs over and over and over again.
22:44
Um, and you know, that was, that was a lot of money.
22:48
That was a big spend, you know, that morning.
22:51
Um, so, but there's something about that song that I, I, I normally don't like songs where I feel like the conceit is so, like, strong, but I think it, like, it's, I mean, I know some people think it's...
23:07
I mean, it is corny anytime somebody mentions, like, Hank and Hendrix and Marilyn and Madonna, it's, but I think it's used really well in, in that way 'cause it's, it is a timestamp.
