Jeremiah 37

He was threatened and falsely accused, and he was also imprisoned, and this is in Jeremiah 26.

The people wanted to put him to death, and in Jeremiah thir- Jeremiah 37 and 38, he was arrested and eventually cast into a dungeon for preaching the Word of God.

Think about that.

We don't get the oppression, we don't get the oppression and the, and the, the rejection that Jeremiah got in this day, thank God, but it may be coming.

That's the first beating.

And then Jeremiah 37, 15.

And the princes were enraged at Jeremiah, and they beat him and imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for it had been made a prison.

All this in the background of the destruction, the siege of Jerusalem, its destruction, the sending into exile, the flee into Egypt, all of this drama, and they still homing on the prophet who had predicted everything and can't cope with him.

All right, we are done for the day, guys, but I'll go to our biblical worldview.

This comes from Jeremiah 37, verse 15, which I kind of feel like today.

They were angry with Jeremiah and had him beaten and imprisoned in the house of Jonathan the secretary, which they had made into a prison.

Don't shoot the messenger today, guys.
