I just want to acknowledge the Roads Minister, Jenny Aitchison.

You'll remember we had the Minister on the program a number of weeks ago just for an update on the work being done on Victoria Pass, you know, Mitchell's Causeway, the closure of the Great Western Highway.

And she gave me a guarantee that they would keep the local communities in the mountains and Lithgow and the Central West updated.

I will give credit.

We had Jenny Aitchison came to our depot in Dubbo last week.

She was in Dubbo for some time, gave me an hour, and she's put me onto a new gentleman now who is probably going to really be disappointed that she introduced us because he's going to hear from me a lot.

Oh, I'd love to get Nicole Rosey on the Trucking Tuesday podcast.

I'm assuming they will have politicians and that there.

And I've got to say thank you to Jenny Aitchison, the New South Wales Minister for Transport.

She was in Dubbo on Tuesday.

In fact, I spoke to the roads minister this morning, Jenny Aitchison and her team, and I'm very grateful to the minister in her office because the last time we spoke, she said she was going to keep me updated on the work being done to the Great Western Highway.

Now, I'll put these up on the website.

She sent me through four photos to show the work that's being done.

And she says, Mark, here they are, finalised designs for several piling pads, the ground improvements to support the 76-tonne piling rig, continuing micro-piling, drilling small, deep piles into the ground to support the rig.

They've began shotcreating the platform, batters, spraying concrete onto the sloped earth surfaces to stabilise them and started building the reinforcement cages that go and link individual micropiles together.

So look, I'm sure engineers will know what that means, but I just want to say thank you to Jenny Aitchison.

know I've been on her back and on her case lately in relation to this because it's having a huge effect but she's a minister who sticks to her word and she's come through with a few photos that we'll put up onto the website so you can have a look at the progress that's being made and she assures me that they're working day and night 24 7 to try and get this thing opened by Q2 next year.

In fact, I would support, uh, Jenny Aitchison and her roads people taking a little bit of a trip to over there to see exactly how they do it.

Because, uh, you know, one time I'd ex- I'd actually support a little bit of a political expenditure to, to go and do something like that, because they do it so well, and they do it, uh, with no fuss.

The problem that, that we have here is we like to keep too many people happy, and we don't do things that we should do to look after-

Closure of the Great Western Highway this morning with the Roads Minister to join us and explain whether everything is on track for the second quarter of next year.

Jenny Aitchison has actually made her way up to Victoria Pass today where the Minister was earlier joined by Catherine King who pledged $100 million from the Commonwealth.

So the State and the Feds are going to share the costs of this and it's about time the Feds came to the party.

The Albanese government has finally realised the impact this is having on the residents and business owners living in the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and the Central West.

Well, as promised, I was hoping to speak

to the New South Wales Roads Minister, Jenny Aitchison, about the closure of the Great Western Highway.

And she's going to join us straight after the news at 10 o'clock, given the Commonwealth has come to the party, pledging $100 million for Victoria Pass and matching the $100 million committed by the New South Wales Government.

All the while, we've had major dramas on the diversion, regular breakdowns, three major crashes in the last week, yet we haven't heard a word from the contractor or the government about the progress at Victoria Pass.

What happened to transparency? What happened to keeping everyone in the loop? Well, I'll hopefully speak to the roads minister, Jenny Aitchison, this week, and maybe she can answer some of your questions if she's willing to join me in the studio, because I keep hearing not a lot's been done up at Mitchell's Causeway.

Okay, fair enough.

It's only been seven weeks, but let's not forget the Great Western Highway has been closed since the beginning of March.

And as I keep reminding Chris Minns, he's the Premier of New South Wales.

He's not the Premier of Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.

So hopefully Jenny Aitchison will make herself available to chat to us at some stage this week.
